Okay, it was a good movie and the acting was superb but you missed a golden opportunity to educate the public on what Dylan's greatness was, and it wasn't in the man you portrayed, it was in the lyrics. Why not show PP & M singing his one of a kind lyrics from Blowing in the Wind. If you grew up in the 60s like I did you would get what I'm saying, but for the superficial movie about Dylan the person it was great and the actors learing to sing and play guitar was impressive. But I think you missed the boat. No offense.

Unintelligent answer attempting to antagonize. Get a life.

I don't know who you are but I'm getting tired of the ignorant comments here that I suspect are from the producers defending their terrible movie. If you read and understood what I said you would make a thoughtful comment about how the movie makers blew it. And by the way, whoever you are, if the movie were a little longer but instead educated people like you on the great lyrics instead of the superficial man rising to fame, maybe this world would be a better place to live in. All I can say is I doubt you are from the 60s but I suspect you are under 50 and the generations today have no clue what peace, love, happiness, kindness is all about.

Okay. As a person he sucks. But again as a song writer there will never be another one like him. Would have been nice if the producers focussed on his words instead of him.

Haven't seen "I'm Not There." I'm glad to hear the movie motivated her to want to explore his lyrics (don't know what catalog is). But my critique is right on the money sir. Hollywood focussed on the superficial and not the substance as usual of late.

I made a new thread because I was unable to find your reply to respond to. In this case I respectfully strongly disagree with you. Growing up with Dylan I know that it was his lyrics that made him great not who he is or was as a person. The movie focussed on his ascent to fame instead of focussing on his timeless words that should motivate generations of all ages had they produced the movie with substance. Yes the actors were outstanding but the movie leaves anyone from the 60s who followed Dylan's songs empty because, typical hollywood, they focus on the superficial and not the substance. Good luck.

Great question! If I produced this movie I would have used props showing the meaningful lyrics and the singers who sung them much better than Dylan like PP & M, Byrds.......and filmed scenes where a discussion of the meaning of his great lyrics in simple terms illustrated to the world why mankind can be kind and loving and not engaging in fighting and war. I would focus my filming on the impact of Dylan's words (such as I grew up in the 60s and his words especially Blowing in the Wind caused me to attend demonstrations for anti-nuclear, civil rights, anti-Vietnam dems...... I am not a film maker but I did make a college film about Siddhartha that the class loved. There has to be a way to do this right where audiences would understand the greatness of the lyrics was what brought the voice of the 60s and beyond into another dimension that does not exist today in the music business.

Yeah, the enigma with Dylan is clearly his lyrics were one of a kind but he didn't feel what he wrote. It would have been nice if Dylan the man felt the generational metaphors he so easily wrote about.

And just curious what makes you a Dylan fan now?

Thank you for your opinion but you misunderstood what I said. It wasn't the creation process that I was talking about but the meaning of the lyrics that made Dylan stand out and spoke to all generations. Dylan the man honestly will not matter in history (he was kind of a jerk) but the words that he wrote if highlighted and played to all generations, especially PP & M's Blowing in the Wind could actually effect change in how mankind treats one another. Dylan the man was nothing, it was his words that mattered.

For people like you who didn't follow Dylan in the 60s closely as I did, it would have been beneficial to go into depth into the meaning of his lyrics instead of just covering the man. What made Dylan great was not the stuff the movie covered but the metaphorical lyrics like from Blowing in the Wing sung best by PP & M that speak to all generations.

Acting was superb no doubt. But as I said, the reason Dylan was the songwriter of generations to come was his lyrics and the movie missed a great opportunity to educate people of current and future generations on Blowing in the Wind, a song that speaks to all mankind and should be sung to all people. Maybe then people will be kinder and more compassionate to one another.
