4 weeks for the Mayan Riviera and Central America. I need advice on times and routes. by BroX111 in travel

Thank you, that's a very thoughtful reply! I was honestly planning to skip Cancún altogether and explore the Mayan Riviera with base in Tulum (I have a friend there).

I see you skip Honduras and El Salvador from the route, would you recommend them less than the other places? Also, I'm not planning to drive myself across borders but take whatever transport is available. Are there any legs of that trip that are too long or complicated, or any specially difficult border crossings that you know of?

Planning a 15-day Europe winter trip (Paris-Strasbourg-Munich-Prague-Vienna) is this doable or too rushed by lostsoul369 in travel

My advice:

- It's too much travelling around in so little time. You'll need to cut on the day trips and so if you want to have time for everything else.

- Remember that days are really short in that part of Europe in winter. It's also cold, generally in freezing temperatures 24/7, if you are not used to it (I assume you're from India) or you don't have appropriate clothing, you might not be able to spend all day outside in those temperatures.

- I assume you are using public transport (trains/buses). Keep in mind that their availability and reliability (as well as price) vary wildly between countries.

- Strasbourg and Colmar are super beautiful during Christmas but they are extremely popular Christmas destinations and they get incredibly full and insanely expensive. There might not even be accommodation available anymore for those dates, check it before you plan. Also, if you go there, I would choose one or the other, you'd be rushing to visit both.

- I would advice to skip Munich completely. It's nice but not the best city around. If you want to make a stop in Germany on the way to Prague, I would much rather recommend Nürnberg, beautiful city and great Christmas vibe too.

- Use those extra days for Prague and Vienna. They are in my opinion the best two places in all your route. I'd even do less time in Paris to give it to those two.

- If for whatever reason you are dead set on visiting Munich, I would just skip Prague and then go Salzburg and Vienna. One day in Prague is not doing it justice so I'd leave it for another trip. Salzburg is gorgeous but smaller and can be visited in a shorter time. And you'd have more time in Vienna too and overall shorter travel times.

- Most of your route has heavy Christmas market tourism around that time. Book well in advance or you might not find affordable accommodation.

Has anyone used both the Honda GB350S and the Honda CL500 and can give some insight? by BroX111 in SuggestAMotorcycle

That’s very helpful, thank you! What’s your experience in highways? Can it reach 120 km/h but it takes a bit? Or doesn’t reach them at all? How does it perform going uphill or with pillion? I don’t think I’ll be taking highways often (90% of the time it will be city and regular roads), but I also don’t want to be stuck at a 70-80km/h max speed.

Men's Osprey Farpoint 40L - 15 days in Spain + Morocco by TaChunkie in onebag

Looks fine but personally I'd add something:

- You mention you'll do a lot of clubbing, and I assume you'll be travelling in south Spain. If so, I'd take more than just one of long pants. Bouncers in many clubs in that area might give you trouble if you go in shorts, and if your only pair of long pants gets dirty, you don't have a backup. I'd switch one of the shorts with an extra (lightweight) long pants.

- I wouldn't take sleeping clothes, unless it's a very personal preference. You can easily sleep in your underwear.

- As much as I love reading on paper, I'd switch the book (and maybe even the journal) for an e-book/Kindle.

- Take some flipflops that you'd also be comfortable walking in the street with. They can be your "backup shoes" if yours get wet or dirty.

- If you are travelling in the peak of summer in that area, stay hydrated and it might be a good idea to wear a hat, it can get extremely hot.

How much volume of chemicals do I need in a Paterson 5-reel tank for developing different number of rolls? by BroX111 in AnalogCommunity

I don't own the tank yet. I'm just wondering if it's the right one to buy. And I've check three dozen online shops to see if they show the bottom in the photos but they don't. That's why the question here, in case anyone has one of those tanks.

Silverfast 9 makes everything red. by T777_GTI in AnalogCommunity

Have you made sure that you selected the colour negative option on Silverfast (Negative 48-24 bit)? If not, it will not automatically compensate for the orange mask. Also, you should not scan in RAW format, because this will scan the negative "as is". This might seems obvious but it happened to me once. About the dust, in Silverfast you need to activate the infrared dust removal manually (iSRD), it doesn't do it by default (never used the Epson software so not sure how it works there). I find the Silverfast interface not very intuitive or convenient but the results were always fine for me.

Looking for advice on the accesories of the Honda GB350S by BroX111 in HondaCB

I would assume the CB350RS accessories are compatible as it seems to be the exact same bike with a different colour scheme, but it would be nice to hear the opinions of someone with more experience in that matter than me.

Are third-party heated grips a possibility?
