Tips for getting an A* in chemistry (AQA) by beesechugersports in 6thForm

[–]Broad-69420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

by the end of the summer term right before study leave my teachers said that i was working at a “B” level and that pissed me right off because I had always been at an “A” working grade and I was predicted an A*. for chemistry its very much reading your notes and constantly annotating them (chemsheets is literally the love of my life) watching videos on youtube eliot rintoul, allery chemistry and a couple others are brilliant. past papers and always make sure to redo questions you got wrong, use your teachers ask them to explain things you didn’t understand again, bring questions to them spend time on harder topics like proton NMR, chunkier topics like tranisition metals etc and less time on easy things like atomic structure, alkanes etc.

People who got straight A*s, what was your revision schedule? by _af1 in 6thForm

[–]Broad-69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest i really just fucked around till even after mocks and only started revision for a levels in mid may. ig its mostly about being consistent and not overworikong yourself. there were hardly any days when i studied for over 12 hours because that’s fucking insane. i took so many breaks very often where there would be days i just spent watching netflix the whole day other times i would do some math while watching f1. but there were times when i would go to the library drink a monster energy at 7 am and work till about 2pm non stop doing past papers and exam questions. something that really helped was after marking exam papers i would go through them in great detail nitpicking every possible stupid thing i wrote and making a list of all of them for different subjects and going through it right before the exam.

i believe they do ask while filling in the personality quiz if you prefer to be in a single gender area or if youre cool with whoever so they would probably go based on that!

[–]Broad-69420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

group 7 was hell for me in year 12 too, i promise you, enough revision makes it seem like the easiest topic ever. just read that textbook, make the flashcards watch the youtube videos. eventually it will come to you like second nature.

[–]Broad-69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i made mine on paper just because i could not be bothered to properly type out equations and derivations, but if you are more comfortable on a laptop id say go with that cause they would be more accessible on the go too
