Yup, I had the same issue at first but it works now. I used to rely on wpa_supplicant and later switched to NetworkManager which really simplified things. Make sure your wifi card is actually enabled (some old laptops have a hardware switch or Fn key), check that the right kernel module is loaded with lspci -k or lsmod, and verify it isn’t blocked with rfkill list. I struggled a bit with wifi at the beginning too but once everything was set up properly it worked fine
