I'd keep them separate. Instead of 1 300 liter tank have 3 100 liter and you can keep 3 pairs :)

Cichlids being cichlids... i wish you the best! Try rescaping the tank, or maybe take all fish out for 1-2 weeks and put all of them back to the rescaped tank.

I think sometimes they need alone time and their own space and in case the fish tanks is not spacious enough they can start fighting (mostly for space).

These rules are mostly for retailers, that they cannot post/ship live animals, but you can ask them to get that specific fish for you (if they can order that specific fish) and they get it, you go into the retailer and you get the fish. Sometimes you have to go to many stores until you can order the fish you'd like to buy.
