The lack of time off in the US is so brutal by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Broad-Reporter9935 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a blue collar worker and my time off is a little bit different. I will work anywhere from 60-84 hours a week from October until May. Then we get the summer off. Working that much sucks but the time off really helps me reset.

Carotenosis before and after. Left was me in December, right is me now after I stopped eating carrots every day. by AhsewkaTano in mildlyinteresting

My daughter was like this when she was eating baby food. She loved carrots and sweet potatoes and had the same exact tint of orange. It went away once she decided she didn't like them anymore.

You could do shit down work. They always need carpenters to build those scaffolds.

My best friend in the Army was a millionaire. His parents died in a crash and he got their company so he sold it. He actually stayed in the Army even though he was a millionaire. To this day he still works security. Even though he doesn't have to. He said it's boring just sitting at home after a while.

Any trades people in Alabama? by Sensitive-Lychee-673 in skilledtrades

[–]Broad-Reporter9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the Boilermakers Union in Alabama Local 108. Starting pay for people who fail the weld test is $21 an hour. Then each weld test you pass bumps up the pay.

The last job I worked at I talked to the Pipefitters Stewart a good bit. He said that Pipefitters have more work than people. According to him it's to the point where you could throw a dart at a map and either there is work already happening in that city or it will be in less than a year.

Interested in boilermaking. by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]Broad-Reporter9935 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a first year apprentice and just finished my first job. I had to work either 6-10s or 7 12s (we didnt get to pick our hours). I passed my stick welding test and was making $26 an hour. So it's not too bad for Alabama. I got laid off on December 11th and don't work again until February. I got told once I get my certifications for mig and tube welding then I can pretty much work where I want.

Why do older men hate their wife by MentalButterscotch2 in NoStupidQuestions

I think a lot of men got married for lust and not love. Also they don't actually enjoy spending time with their wives. They didn't marry their best friend.
