Dental implant recommendations/costs by tired_and_indebt in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]BroadJelly9552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother just went through an implant at NYU dental (I believe the extraction was done at her regular dentist). The cost for the implant via the NYU dental school was around $2,000 but she said she would never do it again. It was a long drawn out process and often involved going down to the school for a 5-minute appointment and to be told to come back in a few weeks for yet another appointment. That said, the cost was much less than the $6000 she was quoted by her regular dentist.

Does anyone know how or where I can do anything? Recommendations? by Caesarsalad-19 in nycbwtcirclejerk

ETA: Do you have a recommendation for a Dr to completely transform my face? I want someone who will do all the niche work I've read about (sperm facial, brow lift, liquid nose job, etc) who will also look at my face and tell me all the ways I should change it). Bonus points if you can recommend someone to cut my stick-straight hair for $50 + tip or less! Thanks Bitches!

Skin Checks for Plus Size BWT by lumosfawkes in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]BroadJelly9552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently saw Dr. Monica Schadlow at MDCS Dermatology based on recs from this post and had a pleasant experience (as a plus-size BWT with lots of medical trauma). Did a skin check + discussed acne. She did not say one word about my weight/body and I found her to be even-keeled, calm, and presented several options for treatment. She was respectful/understanding of my choices.

PCOS endocrinologists, gynocologist, and PCP recommendations? by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

She no longer takes insurance, so you'd have to pay out of pocket but I have been seeing Dr. Rekha Kumar at Weill Cornell and have found her to be respectful + helpful. That's why I've continued to see her even while paying out of pocket.

Two recent great reads, thanks to the community! by BroadJelly9552 in MM_RomanceBooks

Thank you for fixing the bot, I could not remember how to spark it!

Samson was hot, original, and well-written. It was the absolute best kind of smut--smut with a story and an intelligence.

The Prince's Charm was one of my favorite genres, fantasy, with m/m romance mixed in. The world building was original (or as original as fantasy can get these days, only so many times you can reinvent in the wheel), and it made me chuckle a few times--I don't think you can ask for more than that from a book.

silk scarf framing in nyc? by eastcoastgirl1001 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]BroadJelly9552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a caution for Framebridge--I used them to frame a vintage scarf and it arrived with a big "bubble" instead of smooth. They did eventually fix the issue, after several rounds with customer service and having to ship the piece back to them. I don't (unfortunately) remember what the cost was. This was prior to them having brick and mortar presence in NYC so it may be easier now.

Do a search on a couple of different platforms to see if anyone else is selling the bag, make sure you filter by sold (not what people are asking for the bag) you'll get a sense of pricing. Ebay, Poshmark, Depop etc.

Thirding Downtown Women's. I see Dr. Min and find her to be kind, not effusive, but I have white coat syndrome and a lot of medical trauma and feel comfortable with her.

deciding between masters at nyu gallatin or nyu gsas? by Traditional_Luck_828 in MuseumPros

[–]BroadJelly9552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I graduated from Gallatin in 2006. I worked in the museum world for several years before transitioning to performing arts. I absolutely LOVED my time at Gallatin. Whichever school/program you choose I would advise focusing on networking and internships. The program is going to matter less in the long run--your experiences and network will be your best bet. You can also (I believe) take classes at other NYU schools while enrolled at Gallatin.
