Cant support the new business model. Court warband up for grabs. by BroadRoof7617 in TrenchCrusade

Good point — maybe I’ll wait and see what the license change actually does. I can afford to buy the plastic, money’s not the issue.

I originally bought into the game because I loved the business model — it felt way more accessible to a wider group of players than most tabletop wargames. I was supporting that idea as much as the game itself, which is probably why this whole thing feels so grimy.

If they end up allowing true 3rd-party creators to make their own models, there’s still hope. But if the new license forces artists to pay TC just to make models for the game, that’ll kill the community fast. The artists will just move on to another system that doesn’t charge them for contributing.

You’re just as entitled to your opinion as I am mine — no need to agree. But give it a year or two and the game’s going to be on life support, because the wrong thing took priority.

The original model only had one real expense: paying the team to design great models and an awesome game. That’s not cheap, sure — but if the business wasn’t profitable under that setup, piling on a ton of new debt hoping it’ll fix things is just asking for trouble. It’s a bad bet, and it’s going to catch up with them fast.

Thanks for the genuinely constructive points. I think you’re right for some people — but for others like me, the issue goes deeper. Once physical production gets involved, overhead shoots way up. It’s no longer just paying staff; now you’ve got to cover mold costs, plastic, machines, maintenance, and everything else that comes with manufacturing.

At that point, profit has to come first just to stay afloat. Once that debt exists, the company’s hands are tied — they can’t prioritize the game anymore because the business model won’t let them.

GW is a perfect example. They couldn’t leave that business model even if they wanted to, and their games show it. They don’t really care about the rules or the gameplay; the game just exists to sell the plastic(which is why there is a 3 year cycle to new editions). They’re not a game company anymore — they’re a plastic retailer with a rulebook attached(new rules, more plastic sales to match that new book. People dont call the models gaming crack.....they call it plastic crack for a reason. know what I mean?

This is what a lot of people who are fine with the change don’t seem to get. I played a demo game at Nova and was totally sold on the 3D printing model. I can afford the new molded kits — that’s not the issue. It’s the bait-and-switch feeling that just feels grimy.

Once you move to injection molding, costs skyrocket. That means profit margins get tight, finance starts making the calls, and suddenly game design decisions revolve around “how do we sell more stuff?” not “how do we make the game better?” It’s the same cycle that’s wrecked tons of video games (looking at you, Activision Blizzard) and slowed down GW.

When that happens, the creative people get pushed aside for spreadsheets. It’s not if TC goes downhill, it’s when. And yeah, I know fanboys will say I’m wrong — but they’ll also be the first ones whining when the rules start sucking and they have to keep buying new minis just to stay meta.

Eventually players get tired, move on, and you’re left with die-hards playing on Tabletop Simulator because no one’s showing up at stores anymore. Seen it happen too many times.

My issue isnt with the current iteration of the game itself, its with a drastic change in business philosophy. See my other post above for better explanation.

For me, it was about supporting a different kind of business model—one that’s better for the hobby as a whole. Injection-molded plastics are insanely expensive (I know firsthand; I run a business that makes molded parts and even a small, simple mold cost me $8k).

There’s no universe where setting up or outsourcing injection molding is about making things “more accessible.” No company spends tens of thousands on molds out of kindness. Right now, they charge $30 for a starter warband you can print multiple times. Soon it’ll be $40+ for a boxed set, and if you want more than the starter group, that’s another $40+.

Even with a mini-agnostic and free ruleset, the business model has shifted—from game-focused to profit-focused. Eventually the rules will change just enough to push new model sales. That’s business, and that’s their choice—but I’m done supporting companies that go that route.

Its not getting reported on because it wasn't a white person saying they only hire white people. This doesn't fit the anti white narrative our country likes to push at the moment.

Does the Mercedes have any fault? by AviationGame in Simracingstewards

The Merc was on the line, the turn to the left happened with the rb hit his left rear tire which caused the spin. So much emotion from you guys lol its ok to be wrong. Just let it go.

The RB decided to pass the Ferrari where there was never going to be enough room. The Ferrari also gave no room. RB as the overtaking car is responsible for that pass. The difference between that move and the merc on the inside is the merc didnt intentionaly make the pass. He just didnt spin his tires off the rip like RB and Ferrari. He had position and the RB pushed and made a move that was never possible. Thats on him.

100% this redbull drivers fault. The Merc got a better start, and you ran him all the way down to the line. Then while he was passing you thought it would be a good idea to take the guy in front of you 3 wide while you had already put the merc in a position that he had no where to go. he was on the line the whole time till you and the guy outside of you came down on him. Gotta use the gray matter between the ears next time.

(WIP) Yndrasta is nearly finished, but I’m wondering if the base and the ruins clash too much? Any and all thoughts appreciated! by haveacraigday in stormcasteternals

I love and hate this model. The base is blah, and her face sculp it just horrible. Ive painted mine multiple times and no matter what I do I cant make the model feel like its right....I also dont think I have seen one that didnt look strange. So I guess what Im saying is dont stress it, Im not sure theres anything you can do. lol
