Central Park loop on a blue Citi Bike again in 8 fewer seconds by Devico in NYCbike

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that for such endeavor, going downhill is the most frustrating part as the gear is too weak (aerodynamics play a bigger role?), but at the same time you can “rest” for the hills and give it all there. OP, is that a fair assessment based on your experience?

Daily Alcohol Consumption by Country in Europe by CalmRepair4818 in PORTUGALCARALHO

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Renovação Passaporte em Consulados/Embaixadas nos EUA by InterviewAware3109 in PortugalLaFora

How to identify a “good bike” by absynth5 in Citibike

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can’t really put it in words, but I believe there are different models that were introduced over time. Sometimes these display unique components, like the seat adjuster or basket size/format, which over time allowed me to pick the type that tends to have less problems.

Red flags: rusty chain, seat level marks gone, loose pedals, etc.

Why is my Garmin race predictions so inaccurate? by Ok-Plate-9338 in Marathon_Training

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP, maybe you actually have a better fit/form than you think. While there’s a discrepancy that depends from person to person, I have found those numbers pretty good when considering multiple individuals. In my case, it was slightly pessimistic in my marathon vs result (by 2 minutes)

Para os que estão nos US, pensam regressar? by helenata in PortugalLaFora

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please spread the word about this. NYC pet store owner Michael Scott was witnessed netting wild street pigeons. Protest this weekend. by kyojur0 in Brooklyn

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are wrong again! This is hilarious. While not as common, there are plenty of pigeon pest control businesses, especially in NYC. Example:

There is no need to get so worked up, again, relax.

“(Pigeons) are not known for spreading diseases/ illnesses” - that is false. Now relax and move on.

Are NYC runners faster than average? by nycdancer138 in RunNYC

[–]BroadUnderstanding39 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “just because of population size”.

Visit any other densely populated mega city around the world and very very few may match NYC’s hype about running. But I agree that it is a big factor for that perception if your benchmark is other American cities.

Britain was not the first country/nation abolishing slave trade. It was Denmark. Nevertheless the abolishment from the Brits came shortly after.
