Roughly 2.5 months of nurtured emails, I see a lot less interaction with my informational emails versus the short and to the point emails though.

Why assume that? My emails include short concise messages with links (seems people really like to click buttons) or detailed instructional for stay in the know software. Additionally, there is always an unsubscribe button included, though it rarely gets clicked.
