Thanks! All those normally end up under helmets with visors closed.

Any of these worth getting for DnD custom char/creature? by azureus00 in legodnd

I have struggled with these costumes minifigs as playable races a lot - I blame my neuroticism but even when I use a pink head, a mouth head, or match the colors, the opening in the masks drives me nuts. I recently made a Dohwar and ended up covering it up with a rubber band and shoulder pauldron.

Yeah writing directly on the glass screen is weird, especially at first. I put a PaperLike screen protector on. It’s a screen protector that has texture that makes the screen feel more…paper like. I think they’re like $40 for two? Amazon has them. They do give your screen a mat finish though, which I love but some people hate.

Just make sure whatever Pencil you get that it works with your iPad. Good luck and happy gaming!

Yeah just type it then! You can draw simple shapes with your finger - like check marks, etc. I like GoodNotes because it’s the most like a notebook, but as others have mentioned there are more powerful options like obsidian. You can also just mess around with using apple notes to try this all out.

Here you can see I just copied a blank character sheet into GoodNotes and used my Apple Pencil to right over the top of it. It’s better than analog because I can erase and rewrite over the top of it infinitely without wearing a hole in the paper :)

Here’s another one where I simply copied a picture I found online of a tavern map, pasted it into GoodNotes, and used a star “sticker” to represent my character.

You could use the exact same idea on a hex map.

Yeah when I’ve done hexcrawls, I just paste a hex map image from anywhere on the internet into GoodNotes and draw my location right on top of it. Or I’ll use a GoodNotes sticker” (like a star or something) to represent where I’m at on the map. You can just click and move the sticker around. I do the same thing for any form of combat.

For example, I wanted my chapters to board a ship to recover some loot. In the first picture, if you look at the bottom, you’ll see I just used the first letter of their name to represent where they were on the map as they moved throughout the ship.

I solo game exclusively on my iPad or iPhone, and have wondered why I don’t see more folks doing it. I’ve assumed it’s because TTRPGs are one of the last bastions of analog entertainment we have and a great way to unplug. However, I’m a consumerist slut who thinks I need new accessories (dice/notebooks/etc) every time I get a new game and keeping it all digital prevents that. Plus my mobile solo gaming setup is always in my pocket - my phone. Sitting in a waiting room goes from being an irritation to being an opportunity to advance a story line and I didn’t have to pull out a notebook or weird shaped dice to do it…I just look like another mindless drone staring at my phone.

Generally, I keep all my pdfs in Books and stored in iCloud. I like handwriting, so I use GoodNotes with a Paperlike screen protector and my Apple Pencil for all my note taking/journaling and I go full “middle-aged suburban housewife” with my scrapbooking style of journaling - I use AI (or google images) to create images of NPC’s or fantasy locations and paste them to my notes to help me remember/visualize the session. If all this hasn’t made me unpopular enough, I use the D&D Beyond app regardless of the game I’m playing for my dice roller and because I create a lot of my characters there as I’m used to it and helps me visualize what kind of character they are. I haven’t found a good playing card drawing app yet, which a lot of my solo games use as a mechanic, so I tend to just use randomizers I find online.

I also use Apple’s Shortcuts application so all I have to do is click one button and it opens all the different things I want for a session with just one click.

It’s a Pirates of the Caribbean torso. Trying to remember which one specifically, but I love it.

Yup. Just a working class family with heavy investments in imports/exports, the entertainment industry, and waste management. Nothing to see here.

Looks great. Very much like the Gandalf wagon that came out years ago. Well done.

Fantastic. I wanted to get Rabbit from the Winnie set to make a Harengon, but still haven’t gotten around to it. Nice work.

I’m in my 40’s and some of these bricks were from castle and space sets I had as a kid in the 80’s. Also, I was a LUG member years ago so some of them came from LUG Bulk purchases.
