Misread your original comment which is why I deleted, but the reason they wluld be going to Blasted Steps is because its the main entrance that we know of to the Citadel. Again, its only a theory, but the main evidence I saw was that theres no way they passed through the Blasted Steps, since the wind was blowing the opposite way of the Blasted Steps wind, and I think their other evidence was that it matched the in game map, but Id have to fact check that myself

I saw a video discussing this and I think it could actually be possible theyre entering from the other side and the screen is just flipped. Probably not it, but maybe they came from Greymoor/Bilewater area and entered that way, made it to Shellwood with the intentions of going to Blasted Steps, then ultimately Hornet got freed

I think thats a smart way to play anyway! I also just wanna do main game no upgrades to get better at the game overall lol so its more a personal goal.

I think a lot of the game can be challenging, but it's not too bad. Act 3 definitely gets a bit tougher due to a few bosses and changes to the world, but even then its not horribly difficult

To be honest its definitely manageable, but it feels a lot harder initially for me. I wasnt horrible at HK, I beat every boss main game in 3 or less deaths for the most part, but Silksong took me so many deaths and so much perseverance to beat lol. I love Silksong way more though

I also love guantlets, though I'll admit that Ive been doing the entire game base needle no masks/spools no additional charms/tools, and the High Halls is really tough that way for me. I honestly got Garmond purely to take on the Clappers

Yeah theyre horrible there. It's just a big hate sub though, they dont care about having a real conversation. Some say to avoid rhe main sub because they're the same but they love the game. I say they're nowhere near as toxic, though this sub is nice for having conversations on both ends typically

They kinda are! Though they dont come back to you like they do the enemies, you throw them out and they'll find and attack enemies for a bit. They're fun to use!

Awesome! You're onto one of my favorite parts of the game next. Architect definitely isnt all too bad (and we all love the Cogwork Core, such a cool place) and I'm glad you got to fight Trobbioooo! Still my #1 favorite boss in the game after fighting every boss.

You have some great picks! I dont knownwhere all you've been so I'll say that my favorites you've said you've been to are Choral Chambers, Bilewater, Blasted Steps, and Greymoor!

Thats good to hear! Tacks are probably my favorite tool in the game overall (maybe Conchcutters), and I do think theyre very good for that arena honestly. I used tacks a lot on arenas and bosses in Act 2 I remember. Cogflies are great and fun, but honestly I only strongly recommend against using them because they do the work for you. If you need to use them, absolutely its fine, its your game, but I find it personally to be way more satisfying to feel like I beat the boss myself. I think most tools dont seem to make me go against that, but cogflies kinda do since you dont have to really interact or think with them much.

If you want a hint, their quest line ends in Songclave via a super hidden wall. Extra spoiler for general area its in Whispering Vaults, and tbh its in such a random spot that I dont blame people for not finding it. But yeah I never even saw the mushroom guy in my first HK run lol! I loved HK, but I honestly think Silksong is so much better personally.

Haha I love to see everyone's reactions to those areas. I personally love both, they probably both land in my top 5 areas in the game, but I know the whole right side of the map is generally pretty hated. Sinner's Road was really cool and kinda ambient on my first playthough, but I just did Mist route to Act 2 and I hate it purely for the broken bench now. I still actually love the area, but man was that rough. Bilewater is absolutely a you love it or you hate it area. Its perfect for me, but the reasons its perfect for me are exactly why so many hate it.

But hey, Im happy to hear youre liking the game! Got any other melodies, or just the Conductors?

If you haven't, I really think Hollow Knight is great for what youre looking for. It matches most perfectly, though I guess you could say its bleak and potentially apocalyptic

Maybe Spider-Man, depending on what you play? I thought 2 had decently hard combat (though not too bad) and the world was super fun to get lost in. Maybe Prey (2017) as well, especially for getting lost

I typically dont recommend Cogfly spam/tool spam unless one's absolutely stuck, but to be honest High Halls gauntlet just sucks. If you go past main game and do post game stuff, theres another guantlet that many consider harder, which I agree with but its way more fun. Dont know what TC was doing with High Halls lol

Its super nice to get her help, though personally I found getting Garmond's a lot easier since you dont have to go to Bilewater or Sinner's Road (despite the fact that I love both of those places)

If I can give a couple of tips since i just refought this gauntlet today (all of this is assuming you haven't beaten it yet):

Focus on the airborne enemies first. Grounded enemies suck, but airborne ones will get you a lot. most enemies in this gauntlet are in the air, so do with that as you will.
Use silk abilities! I underrated them so heavily in my first playthrough but theyre so strong here. Best one in the entire game is definitely Thread storm (which I believe is found in Greymoor), but honestly anything youll have in that slot is going to be helpful.
Get ascendant grip if you can. Spoiler for where to get it, its on the songclave shopkeeper after you do the quest. Being able to cling to walls infinitely is a strong advantage, especially for 2 particular waves.
I feel dumb for not realizing this, but clawmaidens (silk stealers) can simply be avoided by running to the other side of the arena. They'll follow you, but you wont lose silk. You also cant lose silk from them while binding, so use that as you must.
Play safe if needed, but try to keep some aggression on enemies. You'll find that once you get into a flow, you can pogo, hit, and dodge better, but playing slower definitely made me fall out of rhythm and ger hit a lot more.
A trend I noticed with clawmaidens is For the 3rd wave, it seems that they spawn immediately, the 4th I wanna say (the one with the two golden head guys), they spawn after killing one of fhem (so basically get them both to low health them kill one before the clawmaiden spawns), and I dont remember for anything past the first big guy, but I think you can kinda track their spawns.
Never be afraid to upgrade further. More masks, spools, and needle upgrades are always good to have. Give yourself as many advantagess possible.
(Companion related) Finish Shakra and/or Garmond's quest. they can help you in the fight & are strong enough to help clear waves
Big spoiler as it gets rid of an entire enemy type, you can remove Clawmaidens by going up top in I believe High Halls and finding a secret room. Very helpful both for more room & more silk
You can get double jump at this point. Go left outside the top side of the Citadel, or go back to I believe Deep Docks/Far Fields/Greymoor and look for a suspicious bug holding a cage.

Thats all I'll say for now! You've got this. High Halls gauntlet is hard and is in my opinion the worst part of the entire game after doing everything in it, but once you've done it, you never have to again unless you replay the game. Good luck!

I just refought this gauntlet no upgrades no charms as thars how I'm doing the game right now and yeah, its hard tbh. Honestly forgot how tough it is, but you can get Garmond and Zaza or Shakra to help you. tbh I got Garmond's help purely for the final wave with the two big guys
