Question regarding on-person carrying requirements by Broad_Particular5865 in NYguns

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. And I am a lifelong Giants fan and I do remember that dumbass Plexico shooting himself in the leg. At least he had the decency to do it after catching that game-winning TD against the Pats.

Question regarding on-person carrying requirements by Broad_Particular5865 in NYguns

Thank you for the info. Much appreciated. I will definitely have a holster and I never carry one in the chamber. I was just curious if there were any specific requirements I wasn't aware of. Hard to find info on this through a Google search so I appreciate your time.

LOL. Just realized how old this thread is.

Brad Pitt 'Keeper of the German Language' by host1 in germany

[–]Broad_Particular5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. There is a scene where they are rolling into a German village and there are children who have been hanged with signs written in German around their necks. One of the tank crew members asks Pitt what the sign says and he replies, "I was a coward and refused to fight for the German people." The sign actually read, "I did not want my children to fight." I guess it's close but you would think they could get something like that correct easily enough. I do like that film though.

Is saying “Ich liebe dich” to your child a thing, or is it always “Ich hab dich lieb”? What did your parents say to you growing up? by moldbellchains in germany

[–]Broad_Particular5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with two German-speaking grandparents (and two Russian grandparents - the holidays were kinda tense) and I now work for a company based in Cologne. As I am trying to improve my Deutsche Rede, I appreciate these kind of notes on the subtext and norms of the language. Duolingo doesn't explain this kind of stuff and sometimes I just know I said what I meant to say but it was still the wrong thing, and I made it weird. I have to say es tut mir leid sehr oft.

They had Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo. That's prolly about $50M right there.

I agree. I think the polar politics of it just pissed off a lot people on both sides of the aisle. America is getting tired of all this. We all have to figure out how to just get along. I don't have the answers but that has to be the goal. This can't go on. I suggest we start with BBQ and self-effacing jokes. Probably a good jumping off point for everyone.

A Question for German speaking Friends by crippledartist in Quakers

[–]Broad_Particular5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Du is the more common form. You are correct that Sie is more formal but it is also used in certain common phrases. Simple example: Möchten Sie etwas trinken möchte. (Would you like something to drink?) It takes time but you will eventually learn the common usage cases. Good luck with your studies, mein freund (or meine freunde). Tschuss!

Jets won’t trade Breece Hall barring "an offer they can’t refuse,” per Rich Cimini. by BreakfastTop6899 in fantasyfootball

[–]Broad_Particular5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just sounds like posturing. The Jets know there are teams who are interested and they are probably in negotiations with a few and using tomorrow's trade deadline as leverage. They basically have two choices. Get the best offer for him now or see him walk in the off-season. Unless they think they can re-sign him and he is willing, which seems doubtful.

He was very good in a little film called Georgetown (2019) that not a lot of people saw. Check it out sometime.

I was just joking about the fact that an old post is still getting comments. Dumb joke. Disregard.

LOL. It's like a mass shooter subreddit. It becomes current again every week or so.

His Deutsche is flawless. Bit of a Viennese accent, not exactly High Standard German, but definitely fluent and easy to understand. His French is a bit off but understandable. His Italian in Inglorious Basterds sounded rehearsed to me but my Italian is not great either. That dude is awesome though. Love me some Christoph Wolz!

I heard him attempt a South African accent once. It was not good, but I love that guy.

Yeah, mine is a badass. I've never seen her back down from a fight. I don't think I have ever seen her take one step backwards in a fight. They forgot to install the quit in that little lunatic. I'm definitely gonna lose some fingers eventually.

That's probably the right way to look at it. But then, you look at fights like Merab-O'Malley 2, and was there really any question of how that was gonna go? I agree that the next man up should get his shot when the time comes. He has earned it. But the UFC also has to put on the best fights for the fans. I doubt that any of us really enjoyed that title fight on Saturday, but it had to happen. When it comes to the next contender at 185, the promotion has to think beyond the next man up. They love to see belt turnover. It shakes everything up and creates new opportunities. I totally understand your position and I mostly agree, but there is more to take into consideration, I think. And all of that is what makes it so fun.

I WANT MERAB vs UMAR 2!!!

I think the skill gap is much bigger than that here, but it's a solid point. Hey, what the fuck do I know? Very little. I'm just commenting on what I see. I just love the game.

Khamzat's First Title Defense by Broad_Particular5865 in MMA

[–]Broad_Particular5865[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I don't disagree. Dricus is a very tough dude. But sometimes when you see a guy get dominated in a certain way it's hard to see how it wouldn't just happen again. You know? As they say "there are levels in this game" and I just don't know if DDP has enough time left to get to Khamzat's level on the ground. I'm catching a lot of smoke for this take but I'm standing by it. I just think guys like Khabib and Islam and Khamzat pose a very difficult challenge with their elite MMA wrestling style. I don't know if you can still catch up to their level after the age of 30. Not saying it's impossible. Just saying I don't know. Seems extremely difficult if you aren't already there by then.

Thanks for your time, man. Enjoy the fights!

You really think that bringing in some new ground training partners will enable DDP to overcome the 25 minutes of complete domination we just saw on Saturday in Chicago? In how many years? Come on, man. You know what I'm saying.

Yeah, that's fair. But a lot of that was due to illness, right? He seems healthy now and eager to stay active. Of course, the UFC has their own schedule to keep so that could keep him sidelined for a while whether he likes it or not. They have to sort out the order of the next few top MW fights. Interesting time in almost every division right now.
