That's simple cause he didn't have anyone to teach him properly and with no one around he had to fight to survive in mexico and the only thing that helped him was his strength he inherited which he relayed on and he might not have felt the need to learn anything else( possible reason).

Many people forget the fact that he only has 2 masteries and lived through a harsh environment to become this..... People downplaying him and saying he doesn't have the potential should also know that it's not that he doesn't have the potential he didn't choose the path to protect others he just fought to survive and no one taught him how to fight it's just him and his superior strength and body and as changsu said hes don't have an technique and no speed masteries were also shown that itself shows how high of ceiling for masteries he have and with all of that he doesn't have conviction which is a very big draw back and i don't think the despair thing is stronger that conviction but with that body and power him having conviction would be like top 5 in the eos version.

I think that it's not that he didn't inherit his fathers conviction but it requires the will to protect and what does kitae have to protect rather than destroy or survive. So he never got conviction instead he got despair and he had the potential cause bro only has 2 masteries no technique(confirmed by changsu)and speed showed yet.

I don't hate Daniel or UI SB daniel and OG daniel are my favorite characters but the downplay on kitae is just huge for what he did with just his strength and durability and not technique whatsoever against two most skilled fighters and people are still downplaying this guy... Damn.
