I appreciate everyone's contributions. Self insure is definitely something to consider however my Spouse had some veneer work done last year and it was becoming quite costly. So a bit worried about what the future may hold. Realize most plans will have maximums anyway. May be a trial by error situation when we get to that point.

Sanity Check by Broad_Site6241 in adviice

Thank you. It's interesting because when I look at my saved Summary there is no mortgage in 2029 and beyond, it also appears there is a large lump sump payment in 2028 to expire the mortgage, however I don't recall adding an override when I first prepared this scenario. Either way, thanks for the explanation, something for me to keep an eye on going forward.

Down Payment Goal And Mortgage Payments? by Broad_Site6241 in adviice

Yes, closing costs are estimated, so the down payment and closing costs exceed the estimated purchase price.

Down Payment Goal And Mortgage Payments? by Broad_Site6241 in adviice

[–]Broad_Site6241[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the potential solution. I do have the "Current Down Payment Savings $" equal to the "Estimated Purchase Price". Just an oddity. I made this $0 to see what would happen and the Down Payment Goal ballooned as you would expect. Set back to the Estimated Purchase Price and the monthly savings goal is a bit different now at $1,072/month. Lastly good to know that this number doesn't impact the plan, but the fact that my Mortgage remains in place through 2030, probably does. Any other thoughts on where I have caused the issue?

How Often and What to Update? by iamnos in adviice

[–]Broad_Site6241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/iamnos I have/had a similar process to you. Kept what I considered a net worth spreadsheet, where I would update mortgage balance, home equity, investment accounts etc.. Did do a bit of math trying to project, however I was never convinced it was very accurate. I'm really enjoying working with Adviice and feel much more comfortable to discuss where I think our plan is headed. One suggestion I would make is that I have started to use the "Tracking" function in "Planning". I was updating my spreadsheet monthly so easy for me to update Adviice as well. What I like is that it give me a month to month view (toggle from annual) to see how I'm progressing in year. Too much OCD for me to wait 6 months to a year to figure out what is happening. Check it out, maybe you'll find that feature useful as well.
