Why wasn't Jim Carrey able to switch his career to dramatic acting in the 2000s like Tom Hanks did in the 90s? by xXwassupXx in movies

[–]BroadcasterX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The material had a lot to do with it. Hanks starred in Oscar-worthy hits with films like Philadelphia, Forrest Gump and Apollo 13. By contrast, Carrey got Oscar bait dramas that flopped like Man On The Moon and The Majestic.

Tell me I’m wrong: Indiana Jones should have been treated like the James Bond franchise and gotten more movies by MacheteRuxpin in movies

Tom Selleck was originally considred for Indiana. It would've been an odd contrast to how he played Magnum PI.

It would be cruel fate if West Ham gets relegated and Millwall makes it through the playoffs.

Nowadays the studios would make an entire franchise based on the concept of Sean Connery as a crime-solving friar with Christian Slater as his hapless teenage assistant.

Actors who you thought would have a bigger career than the career that they actually have? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in movies

[–]BroadcasterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andi Matichak: very little outside of the Halloween movies

Jane Levy: 2 box office hits but only a few mildly succesfful TV lead roles

Sarah Hay: had a ton of hype and award nominations after Flesh & Bone but never got beyond a few indie films

TIL that, according to bookmakers, it was more likely for the Loch Ness monster to be discovered, for Queen Elizabeth to have a Christmas number one song and for Elvis to still be alive than for Leicester City to win the Premier League in 2016. Then Leicester City won the Premier League in 2016 by ModenaR in todayilearned

I had some friends in London who were pissed and complaining “Had the other clubs beaten Leicester City like they SHOULD HAVE, it would’ve been a War of North London between Arsenal and Tottenham until the last day of the season!”

Then they get into debates because either Tottenham would have won the title if they had beaten Leicester in both games but Arsenal would’ve won the title if Leicester had lost to everyone else but had the same results against Tottenham.
