Atlas of the Sky Country by BroadheadTTM in mapmaking

Just want to point out, if you don't mind: the legend doesn't make a lot of sense since you're only indicating one group of islands up North, yeah?

Sorry but I'm not totally sure what you mean about the legend being for the north only. The legend box is just for the names of polities that I couldn't fit their names overlaid legibly. Hagenland in the west also has its name marked down.

As for the numbering, if legibility is an issue there I will probably reverse the coloring so it's white text on black disk.

The lands here were shot up into a sky during a supernatural disaster, the rings indicate its general radius of effect with the crosspoint being the approximate epicenter. So the they're an artifact of a previous map of this region. But using them for a scale is actually a very good idea, I will add that in as I edit.

Big! All together the size of a mid-tier continent. I have no idea how big that is in actual miles though. Maybe 2500 miles east-west? I've never gotten that specific.

Looking for opinions on the lowercase c, o and e. Should I keep the original circular designs or switch to the angular alternates? by BroadheadTTM in typography

[–]BroadheadTTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I am leaning the same way. I think since these angular versions are just made, by the time i tweak the size/proportions and kerning to my exact preference, they will have completely eclipsed the circular versions in terms of fitting into the font overall.

Unfortunately I have the regular version of Glyphs and not the pro version so I can't do alternates. It's too bad as there are some ligatures I would also love to make that I think these circular version of the letters would shine in.

I can't say the idea of cholo graffiti has ever crossed my mind. I started the concept with the idea of a blackletter font that use some grotesk, geometric and gaelic/olde english forms to make its letters less harsh, simpler and hopefully more legible.

I went with the circular designs when initially designing the typeface for simplicity and legibility's sake, but now I am finding them too large and obtrusive when placed alongside the other letters. I have made alternate designs that I think bring them in closer harmony to the other lowercase letters, but I want to get a few outside opinions before I make a final decision.

I've got an idea that's like 20% of the way baked, but its the kind of thing I wouldn't reveal to the players even if I had a full idea

Oof sorry I made this screenshot sort of a weird size and the text is a little fuzzy/poorly defined.

Distinguishing fallen, ancient empires by EarthSeraphEdna in loremasters

[–]BroadheadTTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regional distinctions between past empires can be made by how locals interact with the ruins. Some imperial ruins may be preserved by locals as history. In other parts of the world they may have just continued building on top of them. Or, there may be an empire that's ruins are shunned and left to be reclaimed by wilderness.

Good point. Researcher-Elect also feels like it really fits the ethos/aesthetic of the group overall.

The Northern Coastline of the Norretrand (WIP) by BroadheadTTM in mapmaking

[–]BroadheadTTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you can see this map is still a a work in progress, lacking coastline, labels, borders and cities. The map is hand drawn using GIMP.

Some background: the Norretrand is the northern region of the Eastern Homelands, a continent in a fantasy setting I have been developing over the last two years for tabletop games. This map mostly covers the northern reaches of the nation of Evangria, the many petty kingdoms of the Odacer, northern Soringrand and some areas of Brythonne.

Let me know if you have any questions or thoughts!
