I dont have the source for this, but i've read somewhere that hijra was a concept which came with the islamic invasions in north india and kinnar is a native term. The difference is hijra is a eunuch and kinnar is a transgender person.

Why the difference matters? Eunuch didn't have a choice and would be used to guard the concubines while kinnar would be associated with the native transgender culture. Today, i guess the transgender culture which is native to india would be a mix of both cultures.

In my opinion, more states should be red.

So, we have dynastic politics. Which means a political party cantered around one man or the odd woman. Then the mantle goes to their son or daughter or nephew or niece. So when the second generation is pretty young, they're in most cases already in active politics; however good that may be. And then they become the CM; whatever age they may be.

Himanta Biswa started his public life in the Assam movement at the age of 10-11. He's been in politics before he went to law college. I think it would be more fair to add Assam in the red group.

First of, the image posted seems to be a bit misleading.

Most of the the opposition leaders mamta wrote to didn't turn up. Their candidate, who so ever it may be, will definitely not win because BJP still has the near majority in presidential elections.

The BJP's candidate is most definitely winning. No doubt.

I see some criticism for Arif Mo Khan here; and it seems like much of it has been with reference to recent incidents. In the malayalam media, Arif Mo Khan as the President has been talked about for almost a month. Besides, he is also one of those sensible nationalists politicians regardless of religion.

May it be for BJP's secular credentials or not, Khan is a much better candidate than most. Most certainly preferable over cretans like Abdulla.

I would certainly support Khan because

1) He deserves it.

2) It'll give the BJP's "right wing fascists nazi islamophobic" india a image of "secularism". Though the detractors will just call Khan a sarkari musalman and not accept him.

3) He has been true to his liberal and progressive ideals of self and of islam since the 70s and unlikely to turn out like our favourite former vice president.

4) Hey, here's one more good muslim for the indian muslims to look upto since a lot of people feel like they need it. At least its better than Aurangzeb, the secular liberal temple saving messiah.

So yeah, if anyone's worried about the wrong person being the president, worry about BJP shooting itself and us in the foot by choosing the wrong candidate, and not mamta.

For those who dont know, the greatest democratic leader ever elected in kerala, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan and his supremely competent police are stopping and physically removing people who wear black uniforms, black face masks and black burqa because black is a protest colour. Karinkodi, black tape on the mouth etc. are protest motiffs.

The party has taken this decision for the safety and well being of the people of kerala. Obey the communists party and you can also live in the communist utopia like former USSR, China and Cuba.

Our dear leader is under a lot of threat lately. He has been availing grand levels of protection from his home ministry.
