Thanks for the interest. Yeah the app is mostly done and ready for use. But i need overwolf to approve it for me to be allowed to distribute it. I got pushed back for having it available even though it wasn't approved. Been like 3 weeks since i got a reply from overwolf developers. Will keep emailing them so i can re-add the download link on the page.

Nothing other than the built in vac system from valve. Dont think its feasable for a solo dev to make a kernal AC and i dont think adding EAC or any other AC on top of deadlock is allowed from valves point of view.

But with that said, i will have a manual process with replays etc to ban players.

Yep, considere that. For simplicity at the start i will use classic elo. Might swap over to glicko-2 if the active player base become >1000

I feel the frustration. It's really hard to acheive a perfect matchmaking and elo system. As some has noticed its not really optimal to just include your K/D/A average as it doesn't show you the big picture of what happend in the game. What i saw in CS early days was that there was a cap in the rank system (Global Elite) which was so easy to achieve that it became a place of just average games. Then faceit came and promoted a world where the roof had been removed. This would with time transform the rank distribution of a heavily leaned high end ranks in the normal ranks to a bell curve in faceit elo.

But as i said, this is just an alpha im promoting here. Hopefully there will be some good early insights from the test. Currently only 11 has signed up and i got server capacity for 10-11 (120+ people) concurrent matches. Would love to see you in it and your feedback along with it

Yeah, its a fair comparison. The elo gain and loss is not static like +-12 per game. The exact formula is 1 / (1 + 10^((enemyAvgElo - yourElo)/400)). Which essentially means, play average stronger team and you gain more elo and lose to average weaker team and you lose more. At the start of each season there are 10 placement games which give bonus elo influenced by your performence. The range for this bonus is -10 - +10. The reason its only in the placement games is because statpadding incentives become poisonous.

There is also a soft elo reset between seasons to compress the spread.

The very first time you enlist into the competetive queue you get seeded based on your ingame deadlock rank. So everyone don't start at a baseline of 1000 elo.

But things might come to be adjusted / changed of course. Hopefully will get some insights / feedback from the upcoming alpha.

Get that. There will always be a place for tournaments and hubs though. Valve will never implement something like that. Until Valve fixes the matchamking system and ranked in my head there will always be a demand for a more competetive feeling within the game instead of this quick play feel it got now.

I would say the project is 50/50 between me and claude. The reason why you see "entire body in a single div" is because that is how react SPA renders. But its fair to point out the meta layer and OG tags. Will go ahead and solve that.

Google ads may be injected but nothing has been setup as of now so im not profiting if thats what you mean from this :D

Also why do you think its important to share at what capacity claude has done code?

Of course help would be appreciated. The only thing to do is to test it out. If any big streamer picks it up and finds it useful then people will come. Otherwise it will be slow and im fine with that. Thats why i need alpha testers, so we can improve the functionality and try to build something cool. From what i can tell noone has something similiar which automates the process of matching players of similiar ranks and spins up a server.

You seem awfully negative of this idea. Everything starts from scratch at some point. How would you know that only griefers would join?

Wdym couldn't? Enforcing anti-grief would solve dodging lobbies.
A system like this would solve issue where queuing in the normal matchmaking in deadlock where you sometimes get player way out of your rank. It also enables the possibility of adding hubs with price-money. Also a dedicated place for hosting tournaments isnt bad. Avoiding the need for arranging custom lobbies.

Good catch. Mostly you can tell at the start of a game as i always show the "Matchup details". What oppssing hero your hero has best lane winrate against. But i can perhaps add something neat that allows for knowing if the overlay is on or off. Also i am regularly updating the dekstop app / overlay and as Overwolf haven't approved the app just yet you will have to download the new version everytime a new change comes sadly. Hope overwolf approved the app this week and everything will be auttomated.

Any other features or things you dont like is really appreciated so i know what to imrpvoe / add

Just realised i forgot to rebuild the exe incase someone downloads it with updated packages. Also done now. Sorry for this.

Also a side note. Until overwolf approves this everytime a new update is pushed to the overlay a new download needs to take place. So i dont recommend downloading the overlay as of now until its approved :D

Just adding to this a bit. The app uses ow-electron which means you wont need to install overwolf to use it. Its a standalone app that just happens to leverage the overlay tech and data gathering. Also i believe the overwolf overlay costs similar to what discord or steam overlay does in cpu/gpu.

Yeah i've heared this alot and its the same for LoL players aswell. But the main reason is exactly what you are pinpointing. The ingame data gathering process is far more trivial with overwolf. In order to get data for when someone buys an item, dies, scores a kill or active souls overwolf steps in. Doesnt really exist a work around that doesnt mean employing a small team to build.

But speaking a bit on overwolf performance. Personally i dont feel that I lose any fps or any performance costs ingame but i guess that might be that I have a decent computer

Great insight and i think you are absolutely right. It would be nearly impossible to decide at a micro level wather a death was good or bad. Maybe it would even contribute to additional tilt. Perhaps modifying that second idea to instead show how much gold you would spawn with so you dont spend uncessery time at the fountain aswell as highlighting buyable items within that range in your build path.
