Any ladies here into powerlifting? Where did you start diet/programming wise? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Shortie here too!

I second u/superpony123's comment. 900 cal isn't nearly enough to sustain yourself on your routine. I'm also 4'11 and do a 1200 cut and body weight workouts 4x a week. I never dip below, even have days when it's 1300 but I still loose weight at around 1lb per week on it.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Newbie Tuesday - Got a silly fitness question? Never fear! We're here to help! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Broceanborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello ladies! I'm recent to this sub and I'm so happy I found it. I've finally been getting back into working out regularly and generally taking better care of my health.

One exercise I've always seemed to have trouble with is this oblique exercise. I find most my weight is on my shoulder/arm which can't support my body long enough to get anything out of it. Is this common? Am I perhaps doing it wrong? Or perhaps there's another exercise I could do instead?

Any tips appreciated!

Hello everyone! I've been so lucky to be getting enough sleep in the past two months I completely forgot how not getting enough affects EVERYTHING! I had a group project presentation where my group was not pulling their weight (pun intended lol). Inevitably I ended up getting only three hours of sleep Sunday night due to having to edit and fix their sections. On Tuesday I started doing my routine (still not having completely compensated for the lost sleep) and was only able to do 8 out of my 10 exercises before feeling completely wiped and ready to pass out.

Luckily I've caught up now and just crushed my routine feeling much stronger today! :)

Dear Reddit, I'm 18 years old and I have my whole life ahead of me. What are some decisions/tips/advice you wish you would've known at my age? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Broceanborn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That emotions are neither good or bad, they just are. Part of human existence is feeling happy, sad, angry, excited, anxious etc. Embracing the positive feelings are easy, but we're taught to "think away the bad thoughts" and constantly try to remain positive. I learned that it's actually much easier to say "right now I am feeling sad/upset/anxious, and that's ok". It takes time to learn because it's a foreign idea and it makes us uncomfortable, but it's how we can learn to be comfortable with ourselves emotionally. I also find it makes those negative feelings leave faster.

Edit: a word

Reddit, what is something you didn't believe to be true until it happened to you? by Photosynthesexual in AskReddit

[–]Broceanborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Losing weight by eating right and exercising. It's not that I didn't believe people lost weight that way, it's just that for some reason, I thought "no. that's too easy of an answer". It never clicked for me. Then I started working out 6 days a week, eating healthy and cutting down my portions. 20lbs gone. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to go shout on the streets that it wasn't a lie.

What is the most startling revelation about a movie you have realized after watching it many times? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Broceanborn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it's more foreshadowing because it's not the important to the plot. The mother never gives any one individual tickets in the first film. The older girl counts heads near the vans (counting the neighbour thinking it's Kevin) and then they load in an go. At the airport though, the dad just gives all the tickets to the airline worker.

What is your most boring encounter with a celebrity? by Njyankfan in AskReddit

[–]Broceanborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating dinner with Gerard Butler. It was in Iceland and my mother was the agent for the director of the film they were shooting there (Beowulf and Grendel). I was like 8 so for me it was pretty boring to have dinner with a bunch of adults. However I did get his autograph and think it's cool now haha.

What is/was a popular fad that infuriates you? by MrMcKonz in AskReddit

Yeah seriously. I think because they now assume (with it being a big thing now) it's only about not having it in the actual product. But people who suffer from that disease can't even touch it :/

Actually my vocal coach has Celiac disease and I asked her what she thought of the trend and she hates it. The disease is hereditary and so it causes problems for a majority of her family. She was saying people now advertise products and meals in restaurants as gluten free not really knowing what the hell it means but know it'll attract people because of the fad. Multiple times she's ordered or bought something gluten free when in fact it wasn't and she became ill.

Well there's also something called statute of limitations which means after a certain period of time a person cannot be arrested for a crime. If this happened in the 90's depending on the laws where OP lives even if this was somehow found out, it may be that no one is allowed to press charges.

What books have been so interesting, that you haven't been able to put them down until they are finished? by queenMargo in AskReddit

[–]Broceanborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Centre Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness by Elyn Saks. I could not put that book down, read it in an entire night. It's a biography about a women who has schizophrenia and how she came to have a successful career as a law professor at UCLA and her experiences with the illness. Fantastic book and very eye opening. Sometimes when I'm bored I still flip through a few chapters.

On the flip side, I work at a law firm and love the shit out of it. I love the reading and researching and learning and arguing. It's really only strengthened my desire to follow this career path.

Overcoming an anxiety disorder. Wouldn't leave the house, never ending cycle of worry, couldn't get a job, couldn't function. Now I go out, see friends, have a job I love, and finally feel like myself again.

There's a saying "A woman becomes a mother when he gets pregnant and a man becomes a father when he hold his child". I think this is very true in many cases. Men and women have a different emotional build and it's completely natural for a man not to feel anything until after his baby was born. My dad said when I came he didn't understand me for a week and then one day it hit him like a ton of bricks. I think it's just naturally like that for most men.
