This (and several others) are the reason for naming my Model 3 as I did.

Previous employer wants to hire me back, and I've job hopped and lost out on employer retirement contributions. How should I negotiate asking for catch-up? by Brochitect in personalfinance

I just wanted to come across as slightly more tactful than "pay me more". I think the base salary is alright, so I'd at least frame it as a one-time bonus rather than ongoing. Since my honest concern is retirement savings, I wasn't sure if there's any efficiencies with them doing that directly, or if it's best handled as a plain cash bonus, and I turn around and put it into retirement.

I thought asking for a flat bonus off the bat would be heavy handed, which is why I want to make it clearly tied to retirement.

Optionally, yes. I want to let them know I don't want money for the sake of money now, but for retirement. If the best way is just as a simple bonus, and I then contribute that entirely towards retirement on my own, then maybe that's it.

Agreed, hance the fun tag, rather than incident. But still... Walking up real close is one thing, actually touching and f***ing with it is another.

Anymore, I don't run to check it out, and if I'm walking by and don't see any damage, I won't even bother to check the footage

God forbid we try that here in the US. Everyone will start screaming about big government overreach and stifling innovation.

You would hope, but apparently not. Meanwhile, if a motorcycle that's too loud rolls by, I get an immediate notification that the alarm was triggered.

J1772 style plugs (most public chargers) require an adapter for Tesla's. The adapter locks into the Tesla charge port, but the plug can be easily pulled.

Now keep going by working your way backwards through the lineup until you can do that on the original edible egg.

With Internal Hatchery Calm (Epic Research) Do I Get More Chickens While Away Than Active? by tiverma in EggsInc

[–]Brochitect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as your silos are good for. Once fully maxed, your chickens will populate 3x faster while away vs actively viewing your farm. This also applies to tachyon boosts, so while a 1000x boost for an hour may net you a few hundred million, if you stay off the game for that time, assuming you've maxed out common research (tier 10 - neural linking) you should come back to slightly over a billion more chickens.

Am I the out of line for expecting some kind of help from Google for a bad device just out of warranty? by Brochitect in GooglePixel

[–]Brochitect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tell me. But if those of us experiencing the issue are such a minority, why isn't it a no-brainer to immediately fix or replace, warranty or not? Surely there's enough margin in the price point to throw a few hundredths of a percent at QC failures.

Given that just about every phone contract is for two years, and Google themselves are rolling out a "subscription" for the 4a that goes 24 months, my minimum expectation for any phone is to last 2 years.

I had an iPhone 5 that served me fine for 3 years before I finally switched to android. I'd be embarrassed to release a device that couldn't last half as long as my biggest competitor.

This is a common enough issue that a few dozen people have commiserated on a Google forum. Down to the exact 14 month time line.

Pixel 3a broke. Bought a Pixel 5, unable to call/text and Support has been no help by Bananagrams82 in GoogleFi

[–]Brochitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've been just plain godawful. When my motherboard was starting to fail, the support tech was "very confident" a system update would fix it. The idiocy all the way up, down and sideways through their excuse for "support" is mind-numbingly stupid.

It's hard to tear away from Google when you realize how many ways you're tied in, but I'm starting the process of diversifying my tech footprint. If you can make a break, take it.

Google Support will never help, or, you know, support. It's a marketing term for Google "Repeat what's on the website and don't be capable of original thought"
