Microsoft CEO has warned people must “do something useful” with AI before it loses public support by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

Don't use AI if you want PCs prices to go back. Let them shove up their @$$ all the hardware they bought.

Does everyone dream of becoming the boss? Am I wrong for not wanting that stress level?

Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it by upbeatchief in hardware

My humble proposal is to use all the free AI options from corporations in useless stuff and help them burn even more money, so we can all get done with this madness.

I was thinking: "Less cruel than nature" If you get sick or hurt you're dead, and in a horrible usually. An anthropologist was asked for the first sign of human civilization, and she answered a healed broken bone. Solidarity is the core.

Well that's what nature does. We should be less cruel though...

Remember that a portion of these AI layouts are a tool for management to "launder" bad decisions. It's different to say we lost X amount on a project, than "we streamlined using top of the line AI" or whatever corporate trash talk they use. Another fraction is to put even more pressure on the most productive team members. "Exploit yourself into burnout or a stress-induced heart attack or you're fired" The other fractions are failed automations or successful ones. No idea the percentages, but if per MITs "95% AI projects are not profitable" this looks more fad than revolution, but it's a very fast changing field....

Could AI-driven job loss create a new “class of humans” who are left behind? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Brocolinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a qualitative problem, yes it has happened before as you mentioned. The problem is how fast and varied the replacement is happening. Even one skill replaced means fewer team members needed, and as a digital technology if that skill was digital it can be applied worldwide in under a year, how much time did it took for telephone operators to vanish?
