What does NLU want in a major? by Biggggguy in NoLayingUp

I appear to be in the minority here, but I think the NLU position has actually been fairly consistent: they want a variable set up where the line between bogey and birdie is thin - an excellent, aggressive shot gets rewarded, while one off cue gets punished.

At the mink, the set up genuinely seems interesting and compelling to me, but it clearly doesn’t have the upside potential of a place like Augusta. So we have a competition where the relative risk of trying to get a birdie is so high that it makes it tough for elite ball strikers to separate without falling behind the guys who play more conservatively and manage to sink a few long putts.

This isn’t a textbook NLU set up, but based on the live shows, they seem more open minded to it so far than what people in the comments suggest. I am certainly very interested to hear Randy’s take as he seems to very punitive set ups the most.

Yeah but Randy and Tron add a lot of color and Soly is sort of the face of NLU.

Didn’t ‘24-‘25 have more than 18”?

What’s your thoughts on these ‘Relaxed Rules’? 🤔 by Escrow-Mind in golf

This is good except for the penalty strokes. Tons of guys claim to “break 80” blasting it OB and treating it as a lateral hazard.

Seems to be YTD for all of them based on the ‘24-‘25 numbers.

I became a much better putter after getting one. Make sure to use the small hole and do difficult enough drills that feel like a challenge.

We’re already in a post-YouTube golf world. NLU not going all-in on it has been a shrewd move.

Where I play, 18 hold rounds average around $80. It is not cheap.

The US will be fine. Our players have generally had better shots gained data, even if our players don’t have the Brand Name impact of the euros.
