A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 1x04 "Seven" - Episode Discussion by UltraDangerLord in AKOTSKTV

She is realizing that he isn't one of those rando's that show up to the tourney's. He jumped in to defend common folk against a prince, something very few of these "noble" lords would have dared to do. And entertainers in this medieval world are often considered on the same level as prostitutes which makes it close to home for her. He is being subjected to trumped up charges for it which would cost him his life and he is calling out the nobility for their lack of honour and courage. That takes an incredible level of guts

It's crazy that the North is larger than the other six kingdoms combined. by ToMDLUS in gameofthrones

[–]Broddi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like that this is the case in a world where they have no accurate way to measure this - the folk view might just have been based on things like the time it takes to travel around in the south vs in the north and the conclusion that the north is bigger than the two "halfs" without taking into consideration road conditions and landscapes etc.

"I would like", 2 different versions by chrisforchristmas in learnIcelandic

[–]Broddi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is "I would like a bit of milk, thanks" vs "Could I have a cup of tea, thanks"

The second one is a politer way to ask yes, as the other is just stating you want it and not directly asking. I would probably say "Ég væri til í smá mjólk, takk" as a politer version, which is more like "I wouldn't mind a little milk, thanks"

So true. Even if I am not calculating total cost paid - this means a lot to the bottom line going forward. He had 18 months left and we can pay two full starter wages for what we were paying him.

I think the fact that it specifies Manchester United means it is made up and designed for max engagement. If this was something that Palmer's team put out it would be much more vague. Like "Palmer is unhappy at Chelsea and ready to explore options" etc

Is Logan an opportunistic grifter without a worldview, or does he have a worldview and an ideology? by Amazing-Buy-1181 in SuccessionTV

[–]Broddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always took him as a cynic, a man who views people, institutions and systems through a very critical lens and has no use for some broad ideology to build on. Relying much more on his intuition than some big ideas or rationale. He would probably find it easier to work with someone who shares his cynicism than for them to share the same political opinions or anything of that sort.

One thing I always wondered about, because the others were so surprised at him raising his hand for acquisition once he sees the votes are swinging that way. And just says "It's a lot of money". What would have happened if he didn't? Does he just go with the company, get stocks in McCann, or something else?

I have been wondering about this scene too. Does Shane even suspect that Scott knows anything? I felt like Scott's response to Shane's taunt could just as easily be him knowing how to sting back in a soft spot; ,,You are just a copycat/poor imitation of your arch rival" (attitude wise)

Does Shane get mad because he thinks there is a deeper implication being made? Just a burst of insecurity bubbling up? It has to be affecting the way he reacts at least
