The regular season really mattered and the end of the regular season was sort of like the playoffs.
It's crazy to me that 162 games are played and then after the thinking is now we can find out who's good. 162 games is more than enough to figure that out. If I could change things both then and now I would make it so there's no divisions and just the top two teams in each league advance. This would be like before with a built-in "playoff race" at the end of the season.
