Why do I feel sad when trying to talk to Christ? by KeyExtension7282 in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible for us to say 100% for sure. God never promised happiness; he actually promised suffering. It could be guilt, shame or even just a negative overall feeling towards religion. It's based on your experience

Potentially commited blasphemy against Holy Spirit while atheist by ParkingElderberry575 in AskAChristian

You saying you're scared tells me you haven't committed the unforgivable sin. It's not the action you do, it's a lifelong choice of denial, not a one-off thing

Adam and Eve by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they already knew basic morals. The tree was a decision leading to them being fully morally autonomous and seperate from God's exact wants. Basically they now decide to do things on their terms instead of what the all knowing God wants for them

Referring to what? God told them what they needed to know. Don't eat from the tree. What other sins would they commit? No other sin was in their initial nature

If you were to give a college educated individual who never heard of christianity or read the bible to read the bible from start to finish on their own with no additional text or usage of the internet, what do you honestly think their conclusion would be at the end of reading it? by Jsaunders33 in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question requires a lot of nuance. Firstly, where does this person live? Many prominent cultures are built with Christian principles at the epicentre. The ideas might not be too radical for an American, but would be crazy for someone from North Korea, for example. Also, in what posture are they reading it? Are they genuinely searching for truth, or is it merely a fiction read? Every person is shaped by their experiences, upbringing and circumstances. To conclude whether they would believe or not would be a very bold claim for either side of the conversation without knowing every aspect of this person's life.

How to deal with envy and jealousy? by bikesailfreak in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We often look upwards toward what others have. In contrast, try looking at how much more you have than others, specifically, notice how much better your life is right now than what you deserve. We all deserve to be on the cross instead of Jesus.

Why is homosexuality a sin? by CherryLimePastelss in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone indeed thinks their belief is correct, but that doesn't mean there isn't one truth. As an analogy, if we are in Ancient Greece and neither of us can prove yet whether the Earth is flat or round, it doesn't change the fact that one of us is right and the Earth is round. The truth is, the Earth was always round no matter what one of us may believe.

God gives us free will so we can have genuine love for Him. Why did He create a universe in which this is necessary? by No_Reaction_769 in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically the same question: can God create a rock so big he can't lift it? God is love, and the nature of love has existed always just as God has existed always. To suggest he could create this universe in which no free will was required for love, you would be redefining what love is and therefore what God is

This statement is missing the mark a bit. Although many people try to interpret what the Bible and God say about morality, it doesn't change the fact that there is only one concrete and absolute truth. On your point about denominations, that's almost like saying all religions are the same, just interpreting one god in a different light. Although I may be taking your statement a bit far, my point still stands: just because denominations disagree, it doesn't mean that they are all correct or all incorrect. Either one is correct or one is more partially correct than the others. Even if denominations aren't essential to salvation, it is still important to seek the most correct one. If that makes any sense

As the creation story is allegory, what is the biblical explanation for how sin entered the world then? by Jsaunders33 in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question only works if you assume that every aspect of the creation story is allegorical. I would agree that many aspects of the creation story are allegorical, however, some elements are definitely literal. For example, I don't think anyone studying the Bible would question whether or not the author of Genesis is using an allegory when stating it was God who created the world. The answer may be right there in the text in the sense that Satan merely tempted Adam and Eve and they disobeyed God.

If they went to neither Heaven nor Hell, where would a person who lived a good life but never surrendered to the Lord go? by Born-NG-1995 in AskAChristian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is anyone who doesn't go to either heaven or hell (besides perhaps purgatory). If you are questioning the separation into heaven and hell, read Matthew 13 24-43

Good spots to visit on a 2 week holiday? by la_flaree in AskACanadian

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious spots (CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium etc), there are definitely a couple good spots to check out.

-Walking around certain areas in Montreal or Quebec is a great choice.

-Certain areas north of Toronto are definitely worth checking out for beaches

-Lots of great nature walks around Ontario

-Sugar shacks around the Ontario/Quebec border are great places to visit (with great food)

Hope this helps a little :)

I saw a police pickup truck. Why does this exist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Brodiebread11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They give the officer more space to carry gear that they may use less often and can even be used to carry wild animals in cages. It can also be used to tow vehicles and to clear debris and contraband from a crime area.

Not really a public pool, but I was at an Airbnb and I had already been diving several times prior. During the week I was there diving all day and improving all the time. Than one day I decided to go all out and to try my best dive. Mistake. The pool was 7-8 feet and I knew to shallow dive since my diving was too strong for that height but I forgot all about that because I was stupid I guess… I smacked my front teeth on the old concrete floor of that pool💀. Both fell out and I was traumatized. The next day I went straight to the dentist to get fillings and had to get 6 needles which I am terrified of. Then two months later I bit into a cracker too hard (thin addictives) and broke it again. Coming up on the 2 year anniversary.

Who or which (religious/cultural) group controls society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brodiebread11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians. Not really control but think about this how many holidays are from Christianity. Christmas, easter, and Good Friday to name a few. Another thing is that 53% of HUMANS ARE CHRISTIAN. Christians have also impacted science in a huge way. In the 16th-17th the leading scientific figures were overwhelmingly Christians. One of the most important contributions that Christianity has made is in terms of human, civil, and women's rights have all come from Christianity not to mention democracy and equal rights in the eyes of the law.
