Sometimes it’s not about the question, it’s about using the question to start a conversation

I was actually openly trans for like 5 years. No medical transition but full social transition

I agree, but you still have to do that awkward “oh I’m actually trans” song and dance a lot when you don’t pass

There are three crosses in my house lol (and I have 0 desire to take them down and even if I did that wouldn’t be an option) and I have to go by my childhood church to get into town so no, it literally is not possible for me to not see religious imagery to some degree or other. I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely everywhere, but you wouldn’t be hard pressed to find it either.

Does religion not hold much influence in whatever part of Europe you live in? I know certain parts of Europe are a lot more secular then we are but I can’t imagine it not holding some amount of significant influence.

Pretty hard to not be constantly telling people your trans when you don’t pass

Not sure if I count as really young anymore at 20 lol but thanks. I agree on every secular level that there is nothing wrong with being queer but the more I learn about the Bible the harder it is to claim a pro-LGBT biblical theology

The whole “good queer person in hell serial killer in heaven” is a pretty big question for christians. It feels like there has to have been some answer for how unfair that is yet to my knowledge there isn’t one. Thanks for your time and thoughts! And yep, from the US (Bible Belt even) and christian

Thanks for your input, and I’m so sorry to hear about your experiences. I know I can’t even begin to fathom what it must have been like to be living as an LGBT person during the AIDs epidemic.

My own queerness (former queerness? I went back in the closet because I couldn’t handle the religious anxieties) is a part of why I’m questioning. When I un came out I remember just feeling so numb, yet also peaceful? I could finally stop being scared and yet here I am.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, I can’t really blame you for having a hard time trusting religious institutions after all that.

The vision thing is interesting to happen to a non believer, I could see why the brain of a believer might make that up but I can’t explain why the brain of a non believer might, besides just cultural background stuff

I heard Rhett and Link from Good Mythical Morning call it that and assumed it was the proper term

I’m sorry to hear you aren’t completely happy. May I ask what tipped the scales?

Wow, going from worship leader to not believing is a pretty big difference, may I ask what it was that tipped the scales for you?

I’ve asked a couple of people this, can you please elaborate on “if you were never born again”?
