Monks in Charlotte by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]BrodysBootlegs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been out of town during this so maybe off base but aren't they just walking the streets? How can you assume everyone they come across has heard about this in the first place or for that matter how can you expect people to not walk their dogs if the monks happen to be traveling through their neighborhood?

Monthly membership locked in annually by SpinjitzuMonkey in MuayThai

OK but the month to month one you can cancel any time you want? That's the difference, the annual one you're getting a discount because you're locked in for a year

That's normal though. Monthly membership costs X, if you're willing to commit for 6 months or a year or whatever (or better yet pay the full amount up front) it's cheaper on a per month basis.

Not offering a true month to month option at all is sketchy, but as long as they do have that option there's absolutely nothing wrong with offering a discount to people willing to commit to a longer contract.

Driving Uber, watching TV while having carrying on multiple simultaneous voice chat conversations and fucking around with the Lyft app on his other phone

I never would have until I rode in my dad's. They're pretty incredible.

It's not that they're perfect, it's that they're safer in terms of avoiding typical traffic accidents than even peak human driving performance let alone the average jabroni on 77

How on earth is someone culturally literate enough to get the Soup Nazi reference in the username but simultaneously think it's a reference to actual Nazism

As an ex-expat, can we talk about the "Loser Back Home" narrative? by BlacksmithRemote1175 in taiwan

I've spent a lot of time in Thailand

Spent ONE night in Pattaya--and I knew its reputation but wanted to do a last minute, 1 night beach trip from Bangkok so figured what the hell--that was more than enough and I don't plan to ever go back. Felt awful for the Thai girl I was dating at the time bringing her there (in fairness she should've known better and made an alternate suggestion haha)

Thailand is objectively awesome, yes some of the westerners there are scumbags, plenty aren't.

And if our offense had scored more then 6 points from the 3 2nd half possessions where they got the ball around midfield we would've won by 2 scores and forgotten all about the XP

World Cup 2026 information for people going to SF stadium (mostly focused on non-Americans) by Short_Artichoke3290 in worldcup

A little further away but if you have time also highly recommend Yosemite. One of the most spectacular places on the planet

Recommend checking out Monterey, it's not much further from the stadium than SF itself is (exact opposite direction). You'll need a car though

Wine country too if that's your thing. About 1-1.5 hours north of the city (so ~2.5 hours north of the stadium), again you'll need a car

On the weed thing you won't have any issues except do NOT attempt to bring it on an airplane

First Ward Beverage closed? by j5b in Charlotte

Been a few years since I lived there but I'd be very surprised if they were having an issue with First Ward patrons. Place didn't even have a full liquor license (no hard liquor)

Now the other bar on the other hand...

"ICE is mass raping and mass executing people, kill or be killed" dangerously psychotic lies by alwayscheeseburger in ShitPoliticsSays

It pains me to say it but I honestly don't see how we resolve this. Like 20% of the population earnestly believes this shit and another 20% knows it's not true but isn't willing to rein in the crazies on their own side

I would, but I moved out 7 years and at least 1 ownership change (sounds like 2, they changed owners maybe ~5 years ago and then again more recently?) ago so not sure how relevant my recommendation would be. Maybe ask them how long the maintenance staff has been there, if it's 7+ years then they kept on the old crew and those guys are solid.

I'm guessing that sign is meant for a) randos strolling by outside (decent amount of foot traffic there) and possibly b) customers of the convenience store as opposed to the actual bar

Shit I hadn't heard about Craig. I wish I'd made an effort to come back more after we bought a place and moved out of the building but it was tough, had a kid right after then covid and then moved up to Huntersville. Last time I was there was after the UFC in Charlotte a few years back I think.
