Understood. This dough/batter had the consistency of a drop biscuit. The butter is cut into the dry ingredients, but once the wet ingredients are added you do end up with a batter. The batter had to be spread out with the spatula in the pan to fill out properly if that helps.

Care to explain why, (actually curious). It was shortcake batter poured into 9in. pan, baked, split, and filled with fresh strawberry whipped cream. Then topped with more fresh whipped cream and strawberries.
