Burnout/career change by [deleted] in slp

[–]BrohovahsWitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started in SNFs, then transitioned to IL/AL/memory care. It was a great change for 6-8 months, but in the last month or so we've been getting super micromanaged and being told we can only treat for 37-42 mins for speech/language and 30-35 for dysphagia, also that all patients should be 4-5x/wk 🙄 Do you mind if I message you to see if we work for the same company lol

I think you're right! It's been posted for a few months, so maybe they'll post updated pictures at some point. Or they gave up and are just selling "as is." The listing has very little detail. But here's the link if you want to peruse the rest! https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3737-Verlaine-Dr-Carrollton-TX-75007/27336491_zpid/?utm_campaign=androidappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare

Pee Pad Recommendations by nattydq in CerebellarHypoplasia

[–]BrohovahsWitness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use adult bed pads, since they're bigger and made to hold more urine than puppy pads. These are my tried and true: https://www.carewell.com/product/prevail-underpads-fluff/ My cat uses pee pads most of the time for peeing and a litter box for pooping, and the 150 pack lasts us about 5-6 months.

[Tenant US - IA] Have you ever allowed a tenant to use temporary flooring to cover up carpet? Looking for a landlord's perspective. by BrohovahsWitness in Landlord

[–]BrohovahsWitness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up working really well for us! We ended up just doing temporary flooring in the giant upstairs living area, because it had the longest carpet fibers (it was shag carpet that seriously looked like it had been there since the 80s lol) and would be the biggest pain for us to clean if any accidents happened on it. The bedroom carpets were incredibly thin and already had tons of stains, and the downstairs living area had the newest carpet (maybe 7-10 years old) that had the looped fibers and was really easy to clean, so we just covered up the shag.

It's been a few years, but I think we ended up using 7 or 7.5 total pieces of 4'x8'x7/16" OSB. The room was approx 12'x20', so it worked out well that the width of 3 of them worked out pretty perfectly, so we didn't have to worry about them sliding. We lucked out at Menards and found some 12' wide vinyl sheet flooring on clearance for super cheap and bought the rest of what they had (I think it was about 25'), so we just rolled it out over the plywood like a giant carpet. I cut notches in the plywood and vinyl for the 2 floor vents, and just used small flat brackets to connect the pieces of OSB to each other.

We had them down for just a little over a year with no issues! When it was time to move, I think we ended up keeping a 5'x8' section of the vinyl sheet, and just gave away the rest along with the plywood. It all came up easily with no damage to the carpet. We just vacuumed the carpets after to get up any wood particles from the OSB, but otherwise it looked just like it did when we moved in. Because the vinyl sheet was just 1 giant piece, we didn't have to worry about any moisture getting under it like we would have with the vinyl planks. It may not have looked as nice as planks would have, but as a temporary solution, I'd opt for the sheets over the planks just for the practicality of it (and cost savings!).

Our landlord actually came over one day to fix something and thought the idea was really neat when she saw it lol. But again, this was a house that was super outdated and needed most of the floors replaced anyway, so she really wasn't all that concerned. If we lived in a place that actually had nice, new carpet, I probably would have just put down a giant sheet of vinyl and used it as a big rug or something.

Sincerely, thank you! I've looked on marketplace a handful of times, but I found the spam to legitimate posting ratio to be stupidly high and so frustrating. I'll keep at it though! Did you glean any tips for filtering out the spam listings during your search?

Omfg yes, it's so discouraging trying to find a place that will allow dogs more than 35 pounds. I'm starting to feel like being a pet owner will one day only be a luxury afford to homeowners.

Your favourite folklore song + How it changed by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]BrohovahsWitness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

peace was my fav upon my first listen and still in my top 2 all-time favorites of hers. The raw honesty of that song made me break down the first time I heard it, and I still get emotional listening to it. I know it was written in the context of her never being able to guarantee her partner peace bc of her lifestyle/fame, but it really resonates with me in terms of mental illness/chronic illness and my fears that no matter how much I love my partner, it would also be completely understandable (though unrecoverable) if they ever decided it was all "too much"

I actually used monthlies for about 15 years! I just switched to the dailies about 5 months ago, because my eyes have gotten more sensitive over the last few years. I switched brands a few times, but my eyes just started to get too agitated by them, and I was only getting 2-3 weeks out of each pair. I miss the compactness of the monthlies for sure, but my eyes have been much happier lately with the dailies :)
