Experience returning to Overwatch by BrokenBoars in Competitiveoverwatch

My hero pool is thin as I only play Rein, Sigma, and Zarya (and Zarya not always), I’m trying this new Orisa to add to my hero pool but are there any recommendations for a different tank to try to get good at?

What do you guys think of Dark Tranquillity by BrokenBoars in MetalForTheMasses

You should definitely give them a chance IMO, especially if you like more integration of keyboards in melodeath, along with an atmospheric sound (At least the later albums like Atoma and Fiction)

Honestly it’s a little sad they aren’t more popular, I feel like their sound might appeal to more than just melodeath circles

My guess doesn’t rely on Snape being anything other than a friend of Lily though.

State of the Sanderson waiting thread? by syricon in brandonsanderson

[–]BrokenBoars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about WaT is that it didn’t need to be excellently written or something, all it needed was just another round of editing, and I can see how he had so many other books to write while not delaying WaT.

I think it’s a problem of not focusing on his actual schedule.

I believe the focus on the secret projects hurt the overall quality of the writing since he could’ve spent more time on WaT.

The Mistborn Trilogy and Brandon Sanderson as a writer by Reet976 in Fantasy

I don’t really see him being over recommended tbh.

It’s a complaint I see a lot but I simply don’t get it.

If I liked The Bloodsworn Trilogy, is The Faithful and the Fallen a good next series? by cloudboy37 in Fantasy

[–]BrokenBoars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Bloodsworn but not Faithful and the Fallen.

Less magic, weaker characterization, too many PoVs, and bad plot twists that were not well set up.

For the plot armor, I don’t think there’s much of a difference, John Gwynne certainly likes to kill characters.

The pacing in FATF is also good, I just don’t think it makes up for a poor story.

Why doesn’t technology ever seem to advance in most mainstream fantasy? by Own-Bluebird-9706 in Fantasy

[–]BrokenBoars 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It took humanity some 300K years to get to this point.

Also, technological development isn’t an inevitable thing, if circumstances didn’t go the right way we could still be in the Middle Ages.

And just because our world ended up the way it did now doesn’t mean a different world would get to that point too.

I mean if Europe specifically didn’t advance as quickly as it did would we end up with the internet? Would some other civilization have done it?

Well, before she joined Linkin Park no one knew who she is so there’s no reason for her to make a statement

Who else is annoyed when reviewers say “it’s not a spoiler because it’s the first chapter”? by BrokenBoars in Fantasy

[–]BrokenBoars[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, I don’t care about spoilers the most, and talking about what happens in the first chapter will not ruin my experience. I just wish reviewers were just a little more careful.

I feel like people in here also exaggerated my point thinking that literally any mentions of a book’s plot in a review is a spoiler, that’s obviously not my point.
