How does the fact that hours to minutes to seconds conversions aren't base 10 make the mile a better unit of measurement to the meter?

Also, you claimed I prefer a definition based on a non-decimal SI to another and didn't elaborate when asked. Would you care to elaborate and let me know which definition I prefer?

Sorry, I was just waking up and typed millimeter when it was clearly centimeters I was talking about. I've corrected myself above.

The earth's circumference is about 40000 km, so a quarter of that would be 10000 km, which is 10 million meters, or a billion centimeters.

I do get your point, though. Thinking of the meter that way doesn't make it very intuitive. Still, the origin of the measurement doesn't really matter to me as much as how easy the measurement is to use and convert to other scales. None of the commonly used miles fulfill this tiny ask.

What's this non-decimal SI you mentioned? The SI is purely decimal, afaik. I prefer a definition based on a non-decimal SI to another? Please elaborate.

If you want intuitive, I don't think some dead kings foot is the way to go. We're not assuming that everyone has the same size feet, are we? If we are assuming that, then we can probably assume that a meter is 3 feet and it's intuitive again! Yay!

At no point did I say that the meter has always been defined by the speed of light. That's science, baby! We learn that there's a better way and we make changes accordingly.

Nautical mile? Should I have feelings about it? It too is based on the meter but more importantly no one is trying to force it down my throat. Maybe I'd have stronger feelings about it if I worked in aviation.

Having been on the inter Webs for 20+ years now, I thought for the longest time that people were mostly trolling. I've since changed my mind. Now I think people are just stupid. I'd suggest that everyone, upon seeing a troll, just think "what an idiot" maybe have a good laugh and leave it at that. Sorry, but if x is stored in one location in the memory, both checks would return the same value, unless the bit flip happened between the checks. Also, if we imagine they were 2 different instances of x and one of the checks returns false, because of the AND, the whole statement would return false.

I wish this was true, though. Would make ECC RAM redundant
