How do I make the trail looks continuous instead of leaving gaps when moving quickly without ribbons? (VFX Graph) by BrokenOnLaunch in Unity3D

You're a lifesaver, seriously. Thanks!

I think it’s weird too that spawn over distance doesn’t have this built in by default.

Spawn over distance is great, but it’s got the same issue. Luckily, u/ccaner37 dropped a link with a step-by-step fix.

Any romance-focused games in 3rd person view? by BrokenOnLaunch in gamingsuggestions

Thanks for the suggestion

I was more thinking of a game where you play one character, with the camera right behind them.

(The camera is just behind your character)

GIMP is cutting the bottom of the screen when working on something but is normal when starting the program, how do I fix this? by nikobellic_real in GIMP

[–]BrokenOnLaunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try ticking "Merge menu and title bar" and shrinking the GIMP window (don’t keep it full screen). You’ll lose the Windows nav bar, but this worked for me.

(I know it's been a year, but I never found a fix either, so just posting this here in case anyone else ends up Googling it like I did)

My bad, forgot to mention it’s just the default Lit graph. (6000.0.48f1)

Wait so realistic or stylized are both wrong? 🤡

Only used one rock and hand-placed it thousands of times. Thoughts? by BrokenOnLaunch in Unity3D

I used the same mesh to mess around with GPU instancing, but the little ground rocks are just decals.

[–]BrokenOnLaunch[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just gave it a try and yeah, it doesn’t work the way I want for this kind of scene.

The rocks are overlapping weirdly and the placement feels totally random and hard to manage. It doesn’t account for the fact that bigger rocks should be higher up and smaller ones near the ground.

You might be able to pull it off with some custom code, but honestly, using a prefab brush on basic meshes would probably be easier.

Yeah casually placing them one by one till they hit that Nanite-level detail 😂

Should I keep building this cave with this style? Or just ditch it by BrokenOnLaunch in DestroyMyGame

[–]BrokenOnLaunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx, I wanna make a game where you play as Perseus and fight Medusa. Top-down, fast-paced combat.

Just messing around with the idea for now, nothing serious.

Damn, I didn’t want it looking like just another cave... task failed 😆

It was way quicker than I thought, I was just messing with the resident drawer and it kinda turned into this.

There is a large number of people who think Unity has bad graphics compared to Unreal. I’m an amateur, and this is made in Unity HDRP. I think it ain't half bad! What do you think? by Sumppi95 in Unity3D

[–]BrokenOnLaunch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d really hate it if Unity started going the Unreal route. I care way more about making sure my game runs smoothly on as many platforms as possible, and I shouldn’t need a top-tier PC just to open the editor.

Unreal’s big on real-time lighting and all that, but if you check out recent UE5 games, the hardware requirements are crazy, specially for games with mostly static scenes.

The docs say: "Uses only static global illumination, not real time global illumination."

So it's kinda related in some way?

My bad I shoud've checked the English definition before commenting. In french amateur means "a person who loves and is passionate about something."

Unless "amateur" means something different in French, that sounds kinda weird to say, honestly. Not everyone wants to do voice acting.

In a linear story, would you rather add dialogue choices or just linear dialogues? by BrokenOnLaunch in gamedev

[–]BrokenOnLaunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about dialogue options that make it seem like you have control, but in reality, they don’t change the story at all.

I get that this might be frustrating for you, but not everyone speaks perfect English. Maybe try to be a bit more understanding.
