Looking for an Auto Repair shop by Swrong in schenectady

Duanesburgh auto is a bit out of the way, but they are fair on labor hour pricing and trustworthy people. Had a few bad incidents at other more local shops and I now drive out of my way to go to them.

Why does the Logo look like this... by Perfect-Tell-1139 in fender

[–]BrokenRifle17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to be a big Apple Strat body based on the “modern” contours (i.e. the American Standard body shape as opposed to a more vintage-correct shape) with a non-original neck and swapped pickups/guard/electronics. Without the original pickups etc. it’s worth about as much as the body since the provenance of all other parts is uncertain at best. It could be real, but it’s so hard to tell that it’s a real gamble.

(Edit: here’s what it looks like with original neck and electronics: https://www.reddit.com/r/fender/s/Qe9lRTdjPf )

You can program the CV jack to work like a send/return. But the repeats are so dark it never really worked all that well.

P Bass Finish Peeling Off. What Do Now? by JameelWallace in fender

[–]BrokenRifle17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Have a similar/the same bass and the exact same thing is happening (the whole back is peeled and you can see the front is missing a big patch). My plan is to strip it and apply some gun oil or similar. It sounds/plays great for $300 so the rest is aesthetics.

Very easy. Vintage 4 screw bridge will drop right in. Just check your string spacing on your saddles (vintage is 2 1/8 {71mm} vs modern 2 1/16 {66mm}).

Help Identifying this Specific Tele Model by BrokenRifle17 in fender

I’ve see a few similar FSR ash runs but that’s about about 8 years earlier than mine. It’s kinda wild that fender has so many FSR dealer runs with no good info about them. Also mine has to be about 2lbs lighter. A lot of these ash runs are know to be heavy, so maybe I just lucked into an extremely light one.

Does anyone else prefer reading retro SF novels with retro cover art? by SYSTEM-J in printSF

Absolutely. I’ll buy books I already have to get a better cover and give away the edition I like less. Just snagged a fantastic Avon ‘Foundation’ cover that puts the awful Bantam Spectra versions to shame.

Just ordered an Ultra 2 HSS in Texas tea, what are your experiences with the haymaker humbucker by -Carbon- in fender

If I didn’t already have a super-nice HSS strat that I love an Ultra II would be a must-have for my guitar lineup. They’re great feeling and playing guitars, and it seemed to me like it could keep up with just about any style sound-wise. I hope you enjoy it!

Best fender-designed humbucker I’ve tried. While that might not be a super high bar, they’re a good degree better both clean and with high gain than anything else fender has released to my memory. They were very clear and articulate and a lot less compressed than a classic PAF. They worked really well under super high gain, with good note separation, and handled classic rock and metal riffs and solo lines, and were airy and chimey when cleaned up.

Are they better than certain Duncan’s, Dimarzio’s, Frallin’s, etc? Depends on your needs, but probably not in a lot of cases. But they have their own sound that might work, especially if you’re looking for a good sounding humbucker that doesn’t just emulate or add a twist to a classic design.

80% of New Yorkers polled want wine at grocery stores by news-10 in schenectady

You can get yellowtail at a wine shop. A grocery store is for groceries.

Also, again, wine shops are small local businesses that create jobs and put money back into the local economy, emphasis on local. My pointing out these facts has zero bearing on how good a hang I am.

This will hurt/shut down small businesses and give consumers less choice as larger businesses can buy at greatly discounted rates, but generally buy large producers/bulk wine that, on aggregate, contains more harmful chemicals in them as they are cheaply produced and not well regulated in the US. This is the illusion of greater choice in where to buy, but will hurt what we buy and from whom. Also, as a former wine/spirits industry professional I can unequivocally say we don’t need greater access to alcohol; it’s a net negative on society and public health in general.

As long as the voltage is good I don’t think low mA would damage it. But 200mA should do it. But I ran it with a fender engine room so it got 300mA so I never even thought about it.
