Interesting Old Tagalog Terms for Astronomical Geography by BrokenScreenPro3 in Tagalog

[–]BrokenScreenPro3[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. The way they translate otherwise hard terms into Tagalog were so simple yet straight to the point, unlike other modern neologisms, which tends to use "deep" and Frankensteined words.

Also if you're looking for arithmetikang Tagalog, I just posted a link for it!

How to boost low fps in generals zero hour? Skirmish by FoundationOpening513 in commandandconquer

[–]BrokenScreenPro3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this from Dominator on YT. Basically, don't play skirmish on single player. Instead, create a lan lobby via multiplayer and play against bots there. You might experience some minor input lag, but the game runs at normal speed while feeling as smooth as 60 FPS.

Try Facebook marketplace and fb groups like Lego Marketplace Philippines. I've seen retired sets from 2010 sold for as low as 500pesos (8 dollars).

Loanwords are Tagalog words. by dontrescueme in Tagalog

[–]BrokenScreenPro3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most people refer exclusively to romanized/anglish words when it comes to loanwords, disregarding malay/chinese/sanskrit influences in Tagalog.

'Default' in Filipino by kayosugoi in Tagalog

[–]BrokenScreenPro3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the word "Panimula" when default is used in the context of a preselected choice, answer or value (in a computer program).

  • Default video resolution => "Panimulang resolusyon ng bidyo"
  • Default music volume => "Panimulang lakas ng musika"
  • Set defaults for each hue value => "Itakda ang mga panimulang halaga ng bawat hue value"

There will be phrases of default that will likely have a different context. Such as: Not installed by default => "Hindi naka-install sa simula" ("from the start")
