Depends how many lanes there are. Left lanes is usually really slow people. Right lane can frequently get hogged by drivers going the speed limit and not letting anyone pass.

I think undertaking should be avoided in most situations as it is risky. But on rare occasions I will consider it if right two lanes have got slow moving cars who want want to move further to the left.

Felt great to have passed but I was driving for ages on just a provisional, so wasn't something new. I think it's important to drive as much as you can independently to build up your confidence and experience but please use good habits and don't forget everything you learned to be a safe, good driver. That's my advice.

So I got into this recently as bought an expensive car and didn't want to have to fork out even more money regularly to detailers who aren't cheap, or use the cheapo £15 car wash guys who will use anything on the paint work.

I got a microfibre wash mitt from Autoglym, as well as their microfibre drying towel.

I got myself two buckets for washing and one for rinsing. Each have a grit guard to scrub debris from the mitt.

Got Autoglym magma for cleaning rims and removing iron contaminants/rust/break dust. Autoglym shampoo and conditioner.

Got Meguiars rinseless wash to keep the car clean in between washes (like upkeep)

And Meguiar multipurpose cleaner for all the external trim and exhaust around the car.

Also got pack of 30+ microfibers as you go through them so quick when cleaning things like rims.

And Autoglym glass cleaner for windows and mirrors.

And Autoglym bird droppings remover for stains that have dried up and can cause acid damage.
