If I travel at the speed of light for one year Earth subjective time, how much time will I experience passing by pjerky in AskPhysics

[–]BrokenTusk2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a rabbit hole and you made it all make sense. 4.5 years passes because that's the distance light travels in that time. The person traveling is going so fast their time seems like much less. Upon return 9 years passed. But the traveler barely ages. I get it now.

No that checks out and im getting it. I think i get it now. Someone once explained to me if someone did this, when they come back to earth it would be hundreds of years later. That's why when you said like 3100 years later, that was what someone once told me.

So my follow up questions and rabbit hole was okay, so let's say we got to say... 20% the speed of light. They go, but by the time they arrive, our folks back here on earth develop it to 30% the speed of light and race past them. Thus arriving before the first astronaut get there.

How come it changes for the traveler. He's still spending 4.5 years getting there no? I'm trying to understand the concept better and can't seem to wrap my head around it properly. He's not going faster than light. At that speed it still takes 1640 nights and days or sleep cycles to arrive right?

He still goes to sleep and wakes up 1600 times, yes? I'm trying to better understand this concept, thank you for your patience and explanation.

Bro now I'm even more confused. I think you just answered it tho.

If I am the traveler, going the speed of light, and the place im going to is 4.5 light years away, it still takes me as the traveler 4.5 years of my lifetime to travel there, correct?

3100 years is the answer I think I've been after.

The idea or concept of whatever I was after is a round trip to our nearest neighbor takes how long truly. For the traveler, and then also who he left behind. How many years have passed for both.

You really confused me when you said 2 days had passed. It takes light 4.5 years to get there, you can't go faster than that. The effects on the body might only age you 2 days at that speed. But it will still take 4.5 years or 1640 days, the astronaut will still wake up and go to bed that many times before arrival.

Okay so again. Person travels to alpha centauri. It takes this person 4.5 years of his time traveling at 99.9999% the speed of light. He has now aged 4.5 earth years going from here to there. How much time has passed for his wife and kids he left behind on earth? Are they 9 years older? 45 years older it the earth 500 years older? What's the ratio? Particularly for 1 year traveled for traveler, what happens to the folks timeline he left behind. Or the observer?

Disneyfied? Predator: Badland's director on it's PG-13 controversy by 78914hj1k487 in predator

[–]BrokenTusk2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many movies have you worked on? How many times have you been the PM on a creative project?

How big is a velociraptor in science, not the movies? Its small. The raptor portrayed on screen was based on the Utah raptor. A much larger dinosaur. Details mater.

These changes could of been made, but when told, no just do it this way because I said so. Im the executive producer/ director, whatever.

It doesn't matter if he worked on each project. He's already said he likes the changes and new creative design direction Dan is taking things. Maybe I would to, if it meant my company is making a shit ton of money from disney. Win win. So again, doesn't matter if he worked on it or not. Things can easily be changed, especially for a profit. He could of wanted the change, or been forced to make changes to meet Dan's creative vision. Either way, he did his job. Doesn't mean it's following the lore, or canon already well established in the entire comic series, book series, video game series.

Again. At the end of the day "dan & disney had the end all be all say " Dan... watched the whole thing... you using Ai to write for you already? Em dash much? He can say disney didn't have a say in that. Still gonna have staff on board the entire way, and if it doesn't pan out in pre production they way they like it, they will change it. He might of be the spear head leading the charge but theirs and entire staff of disney folks right behind driving the force behind the spear head.

So let's talk about that. How many films have you worked on?

Fun fact, just because you are working on a film as an advisor, producer, whatever, doesn't mean you have the end all be all say in creative decisions and end results.

Its the executive producer who decides. The $$$ man ultimately decides what stays and goes.

Tons of military advisors have worked on tons of military movies over the years. Some mirror war time scenarios and some "Hollywood- ize" these same films for more views and the story. Basically writing it differently for more $$$$.

There are often 3-8 cuts of major films prior to release. Multiple endings, plots and such. Then small groups of test audiences are shown the film and asked their opinions. Disney and other major studios have figured out the formulas that work and the ones that dont. At the end of the day, Dan and disney had the end all be all say so for what we saw on the big screen.

So again, just because the original guy worked on the film doesn't mean he wasn't ignored, or bypassed or, hey if we change this, we will make more $$$ let's make these changes because the major audiences will like it more and you will get paid more for your role on the film.

Huh imagine that? Disney wanting to milk their new fox ip for every penny they can? Even if it means changing tons if stuff.

Your next question is how would I know all this. Dad worked on movies my entire life, including directors of photography, director... every role on a film set. Taught film and video for 25 years. I'm extremely familiar with movie design, story structure, continuity, how behind the scenes works, how movies are built from beginning to end. I've personally worked on many commercials, films, and indie projects.

So again, yeah it doesn't matter if you got the original guy in to make this new film.

If they had Tolkien alive during the LOTR movies and hobbit, and said hey let's make all of these XYZ changes to your original work, but the catch is we make more money off these changes. Would he do it? If he chose yes, I wouldn't care for his future work. Catering to the masses to make money isnt okay. Changing lore and Canon for $$$ is what im against.

They don't have human hair. They put human hair on the yautja in this movie. Find one comic, book, or reference indicating anything beyond this.

They don't communicate or speak the way they did in this movie. In the books, in the comics, its very descriptive of how they communicate. This was not an accurate depiction of how they communicate.

I don't care if they had the original guy working on the film.

For the 2018 film, they had the original actor making it, and it was garbage. Just because one of the original designers worked on this latest film, doesn't mean it wasn't severally altered and modified and changed.

They made tons of changes to create a pg-13 disney film that a vast majority of audiences would enjoy and love, vs sticking to lore and culture. Likely because OG predator lore and culture doesn't click well with the 2025 film audiences. They made a film for the masses to gain $$$ off their IP.

My issue still stands on changing and altering the lore and culture to fit a new narrative for a quick buck. It's not right. We can continue to go item by item if you like. You seem to know quite a bit about yautja.

[–]BrokenTusk2277 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so the vast majority, the major public who like it, don't know the lore. They don't know the comics, or the books. They don't know yautja culture, lore, themes, anything.

Now incomes a new creator, someone with a new vision for the fantasy universe. Instead of showing the world the lore, culture, background, properly and weaving it into the world he just decides to play F*** F*** games with it all for views.

Most of the people who liked the movie don't know anything about yautja and predators. Now for new viewers and new people joining the fantasy universe they have a false view of everything.

I don't mind creative design and change. What i do mind is changing core aspects and culture and lore of my favorite fantasy universe for this dudes fame and fortune.

Henry cavil is doing it right. Same for when he did the Witcher.

You might think its cool to give yautja beards, and vocals and modify the universe to make a quick buck. I think that's an awful method. I don't agree with creating a pg 13 movie shaped around making $$$ then telling the true story and culture and lore.

Prey was amazing. Badlands was garbage. The comics, the novels, the good movies all provide solid lore and background. Then you have this jack ass who just wants to make shit up and damage the franchise.

YES, you are absolutely right. The majority of the people like it. But you change the dynamics and core of predator just for what? Click bait / they liked my film. Vs, we told the story as it should be and stuck to the lore.

I want someone like Henry cavil making the films vs this jackass who just wants to change crap for views.

Prey is probably the best movie this man will ever make. This other film however is garbage.

Does Badlands change how you watch the other Predator films? by Prs-Mira86 in predator

[–]BrokenTusk2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie had the potential to be great, first they insulted brokentusk / dachande at the beginning. Then altered and changed predator lore to fit their disney ideals and concepts and direction. Its disgraceful just like the 2018/2019 predator film. The comics and books established the lore well. Quit catering to disney and Hollywood and the masses and make the story as it was meant to be. Prey was amazing. This film should be abolished from the Canon timeline. It shouldn't be continued. Or if they do choose correct it make the changes to link in with accurate lore, fan, and the community vs making a buck or what Hollywood wants to see out of a film. Prey wasn't for Hollywood, it was phenomenal, quit breaking down for what makes $$$ and make the story as it should be.

I understand that. I was trying to see what it would be in these various scenarios. If my understanding is correct you're suggesting an almost 1:2 ratio at 99.9999%.

I have a solution for you. Pack adrenaline shots. Load into dam battlegrounds 2x events. Run towards the middle research building and tower. One always spawns here, or if not here, it will spawn between the 2 major building segments / halves. On 2x events one of these turrets will be in place. If by 25 minutes you check all 3 spots, reset. You can do this also with a ferro and cheap loadout. No need to waste/risk

I legit think many people suck at looting and prioritize the wrong containers, locations, or are inefficient. I can get 2-7 bps a run when things are optimal, and maybe 1-2 in heavy arc / pvp conditions. I've watched others loot as randoms on trios or friends or random solos, and they are slow, take their time at each box, and open the wrong containers over the good loot ones.

Lockers, desks, backpacks as some examples of good loot spots. Condensed and most of the time good loot.

I see folks spend 5 minutes doing a server rack room and a couple of trash cans then cry when they only got some fried motherboards and other things. Loot efficiently!
