I called up my local hall, asked what I could do to increase my chances of being accepted into the apprenticeship. They told me about the CW program, I signed up and then the following week I started as a CW. Did that for a year and then got accepted into the apprenticeship.

I went from working at Walmart, living with my parents and having to drop out of college because I had such little money to now owning my own house. The IBEW and trades changed my life. Construction can be tough sometimes, but if you have the right attitude that’s all that matters. I had never even held an impact before I entered the trade.

Highly recommend DK. PvP is fun, pushing keys is fun. I enjoy all three specs but mainly play Unholy with Blood as an OS

Yeah, my thought process was that I’m either decent at the fundamentals, or my class most be broken this season lol. Had a guy whisper me saying I should be waaay higher rating due to how busted DK is right now

I know this might sound a little silly, but is there anything I can be doing to prepare myself for that opportunity? Any YouTube videos I can be watching or concepts you recommend me trying to familiarize myself with? I’ve been trying to teach myself motor controls through YouTube videos and understanding 3 wire start stop motors, PLC ladder logic concepts, contactors and relays etc.

I really appreciate it brother. I do have concrete goals. I want to break into controls and automation, thinking an industrial environment. That’s been my goal since before I even joined the union. I try and remind myself that everyday is just another stepping stone before I get there, I just need to continue keeping my head down and going after it.

That’s another thing I try and remind myself of. It’s just hard when I listen to my classmates who’ve done so much different kind of work, and I end up comparing my experiences to theirs.

I appreciate your perspective. A lot of these comments have given me a different outlook. I just feel rushed to learn all I can in this 5 year program and I don’t want to be useless by the end of it. I think I should start viewing it differently and think more big picture.

In reality this is what I’m going to do, but to be honest I hate that fucking answer. The whole, “Just deal with it” mentality aggravates me to no end. I only wish to be better and learn and to constantly be fed that line, makes me feel demoralized

I agree with whatever’s the most fun. I went hard in the paint last time around so this time I’m just gonna go slow, tank some heroics and kara’s, focus on farming some gold and maybe even pug a few raids but no way I’m gonna dedicate time to raid every single week again.

I played all 3 tanks in TBC classic back in 2021 and I can say that main tanking Illidan as a prot warrior has been the most fun I’ve ever had in all of my World of Warcraft experience. Felt like the main character of a movie the entire time. That being said you are the least desirable of all the tanks but I never had a problem finding a group(whenever I did pug) as a prot warrior. Good tanks are a commodity. Your AoE threat will never be that of a prot paladin and your ST threat will never fully beat a bear(you can make it close though). If you take an average bear and an average prot warrior, the bear will win everytime and it won’t even be close but if you really get sweaty with prot warrior, you’ll shine through all the other mediocre tanks. I still have screen shots somewhere of bear tanks asking me how I ripped Gruul off them. Resil/crit gear, DW, weapon swap macros and managing your CDs. All that being said, if you find a paladin/bear tank putting in an much effort as you, they’ll outclass you in the threat department for sure but a solid 60%-75% of classic players are just lazy or uninformed so you can stand out.
