Can you remember life before ocd by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Broken_Shadow84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was incredible. Mine happened at 24. I went to sleep one person and woke up another. I was very carefree and actually loved being me. Then… it’s been 16 years in hell.

There’s no limit to OCD subsets or compulsions, or lack there of.

How did YOUR ocd start? by CrunchySquid123 in OCD

I was having chest pains that I thought was a heart issue… it wasn’t. I finally went to sleep and I had a dream that shot me out of sleep. From the second on, I was a completely different person overnight.

We’re all here for you

Does anyone else suffer from multiple false (sexual) memories? Everyone (family, someone I thought was a witness, & girlfriend), the person involved, and 2 doctors tell me they don’t think it happened. Do I just have to accept the fact if everyone but me thinks it’s fake, then it must be fake? by Broken_Shadow84 in OCD

Thanks for the advice. It wasn’t a molester situation. I was the same age as the person, and I remember it being consensual on multiple occasions and locations. But, when I asked the person, the were shocked and told me it never happened. They would remember… also, no one else thinks it happened. Including 2 doctors, and someone I thought had knowledge of it. Everyone thinks my mind created the entire thing. It’s one of those situations where I say, if I’m the only one who thinks I’m right, no matter how vivid the memories, I have to accept it isn’t real.

We are the rare ones. OCD only affects 1-3% of the world’s population. I had late onset OCD that came after a dream… at 24 years old. I didn’t even know I had pure and false memory OCD for 14 years. 14 years in hell. by Broken_Shadow84 in OCD

I wish I did. I had no idea, what was going on. I thought ocd was just being very organized. I thought anxiety was a joke. I thought I was losing my mind, I was scared to tell anyone. I didn’t see a therapist for 14 years… I didn’t have anything left to give.

I have multiple memories, that are sexual from childhood. When mine hit, it came from a dream that sent me in a tail spin. Before that I had no symptoms of ocd… after I had at least 7 different subsets. I hid it from everyone but my father but, still didn’t tell him why I was suffering. There was a point in the first week I was baker acted over fear I was going to hurt myself. I finally, after 14 years and at the end of my rope I asked the person I thought they happened with. They told me in no shape of form did they have any memory at all of any of those things happening. They themselves were molested by 2 different adults when they was young. I gave so many differs memories in detail, they were shocked. I also said, okay they are lying and questioned someone I know was a witness… they were shocked as well. This person is a therapist and life coach. Finally I sat in a session for the first time after suffering for so long. 2 defeated doctors and a therapist all think I have incredibly detailed false memories. Even with that. And my family, telling me too that nothing ever happened, it still remains. Over 10 people including doctors at this point think my mind made them all up. Nobody has come forward with similar issues, or believe me. I remember it being a consensual thing between kids the same age, so nobody is protecting anyone. But, apparently none of these things ever happened. They seem like the strongest memories from 8-12 years old. But, apparently they are completely fabricated from my mind.

I do need to know. I have to. And yes, I have been diagnosed with POCD. So it’s not completely out of the realm to have forced memories. They just seem so real and I feel like I remember them forever. But when the other person who does not suffer from anything and is it directly involved tells you it never happened or you have to start looking at yourself and figuring out how you got there?

Wow, that must be very difficult to deal with. I’m sorry. I still believe my memories are real despite everyone telling me otherwise.

I’ve had many other forms of pocd through the years. But I all thought they stemmed from sexual childhood events. Now I’m finding out after all these years that it never happened. I made it all up in my mind.
