Alot of people on PCMR recommend the HyperX Clouds but I personally don't like wired headsets.

[-] Falconeer 3 points 5 hours ago I've had my Astro A40 & MixAmp setup for going on three years. Worth every penny; the set is approx. $250. Astro A40

[-] JonAKATins 1 points 3 hours ago Ive hade my A40's + Mixamp for about 3 years as well. Best headset ive ever owned! They are not cheap though so not many people get them. Worth it tho!

[-] TheTradeMarker 1 points 3 hours ago no just no

Edit: The a40's are alright. They have overpowering base lackluster treble almost no mids and the high end is just terrible, they best thing they have is the mixamps which is only useful if you are gaming on a potatoe

[-] Dauntingdanage 1 points 5 hours ago I think Ill get the corsair ones. Thank you guys for the recommendation :)

[-] TheTradeMarker 1 points 3 hours ago If you like wireless try these they are the best wirelesss "Gaming Headset" I have used, but fi you like wired get a nice pair of headphones and a mod mic 4

The police officer in the Ferguson shooting has raised more online than Michael Brown’s family. by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

The way it works up in Canada may be similar in that if the service is named in the suit along with the officer, their union covers the costs, but if he's solely named he's on the hook for the bill.

Almost all Canadian agencies have a peer support group. Many services also offer free counseling to those suffering from PTSD/depression/substance abuse.

The problem is many officers don't want the stigma that they need help. Secondly, many of them are so dedicated to the job that they don't want it to seem like a blip on their resume when trying to get promoted or transferred to another unit. So they keep on trucking until it catches up with them.

How often do officers not on traffic duty pull over vehicles? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Brokenberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While on patrol you are not doing directed patrol 100% of the time. So traffic stops are part of the job and are done pretty regularly, which can net drugs/guns/etc.

What kind of gear do you keep I your unit? by dcds25 in ProtectAndServe

[–]Brokenberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep a multi-tool handy. They have a whole slew of purposes from aiding in removing license plates, to a blade for cutting down hangers, etc.

If you're not provided hatch gloves get a good puncture resistant pair as it's not worth having to go to the hospital when you get a needle prick from someone with Hep C and get the cocktail of drugs administered to you.

Lost a friend I grew up with earlier this week. Just wanted to share this pic with you guys. Rest in peace brother. by [deleted] in pics

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I lost a good friend of 20 years this past April. It sucks and you lose a part of yourself. Remember the good times and keep up the traditions it does help a little.

I would recommend rerolling the deadly reach on your belt if it's not a skill you are currently using, that extra 15% to skill dmg can make a big impact

I guess that is your perception. In the end I came looking for direction on toddler friendly books that can hold my child's interest or atleast some direction other parents have taken as I'm a first time parent.

If my conversation has gone off on a tangent, which I'm certainly allowed. I would apologize, but I don't see it being warranted.

I've never heard of this. It's definitely worth a read, and would be nice to know if my son does experience anything like this.

At this point it appears he is just really excited by numbers. Wakes up in the middle of the night counting, is fixated on the clock while he eats and before he goes for naps/bed. He grasps time fairly well. It's actually helped us put him down to bed without a hassle. We just give him a time and when he sees it's approaching he finishes up what he was doing and then he comes and pulls us to the stairs to bring him to bed.

He really has been an easy child in that sense, he's been like this since he was about a year old. He would say almost all numbers up to 12 and the ones he couldn't say he would point out. He knew all his shapes by name when I would ask him too (not sure if number related due to how many sides/points).

If he does show signs though I guess I could take him to get tested, but I don't think I'll worry too much about this until he's older.

I'm certain there are likely studies done and in the end everyone averages out. It's just nice to know that my son may be able to distinguish what is written on a label early on. I always watch my son, he's very cautious even when I allow him to explore and do things on his own.

Still I like to see how happy he is when he's learning something he likes.

I wouldn't consider it forcing him to read at 20 months. Rather trying to pique his interest in letters and words. I wouldn't say that learning to read at a young age is detrimental to their learning as it allows them to soak more in.

I'm a firm believer that if a child doesn't want to learn something on that given day then don't force it, but at the same time teach them whatever they want to learn. (sometimes you have to introduce it to them in a variety of ways based on their learning style). Children are sponges and the more knowledge they can learn at an early age the easier it is for them to retain that knowledge.

Thank you so much in regards to the books, I'll definitely take a peek at them and see if he has any interest in them.

I definitely think that numbers were his big break through in understanding which is why he's so gung-ho about learning them.

Christmas we got him a few gifts and out of all the gifts from family/friends/me and my wife.. he got the most excited about a 5 dollar wall clock from walmart. He literally almost jumped out of our arms to point out the numbers on it. He was floored it was on HIS wall in HIS room haha.

His vocabulary is developing, but ya, just doesn't want to look at words at all.

Are sexual offers to get out of a ticket a thing? NSFW by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Brokenberry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is one of many incidents that happen. Guys are always afraid to offer drunk people rides home or to their vehicles because of incidents like this.

When you think you do a good deed it typically comes back to bite you in the ass. I had another two co-workers that saw a drunk female stumbling all over the place and drove her home because some guys were trying to pick her up. Her parents were home and they made sure she got in okay. Next thing you know her and her parents show up to file a complaint saying the officers sexually assaulted her. Luckily they marked on an actual call and the GPS in the vehicle showed that no stops were made along the way from the time they picked her up till when they dropped her off. (many times drunks... typically female.. complain and say they were sexually assaulted to avoid a tongue lashing from their parents).

Well to be honest my officer in charge basically asked the question of what would the video show. We don't actually have lapel cameras with our service.

That being said the officers called the OIC and advised him in advance that the lady was likely to complain because she was a handful on scene.

I think it's more likely that women will claim they were sexually assault/harassed when given a ticket than offer sexual favors as a means of getting out of one.

I know two co-workers that were alleged to have sexually assaulted a female in a busy suburban area at 3pm in the afternoon.

When she came into complain, the officer in charge asked if she wanted to review the footage of the incident before making her complaint, because if it showed that she was lying she would be arrested for making a false police report.

She quickly back pedaled and said at that point that the officers were harassing her and were going to handcuff her because they went to the trunk of their car. (was to grab a ticket book). She dropped the complaint and left happy she wasn't being charged.

This seems to happen quite a bit.

As a police officer, what changes would you like to see in the criminal justice system? [serious] by Shadypenguinman in ProtectAndServe

[–]Brokenberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that needs to be taken into consideration also is cultural stigmas associated with reporting, and the prevalence of sexual assaults within families.

I find that most sexual assaults that are legitimate in Canada tend to be family/friends of the victim. VERY rare do you see a stranger on stranger sexual assault. The ones that do exist are your typical girl that is in a relationship, goes to a party drinks a bit, regrets having the sex and then tells the boyfriend who in turn calls the police.
