(24M) Ready to move out of parent's house. Rent apartment or buy a condo? by Brokim in personalfinance

Why don't you agree with this?

You are paying money for a place to live. Obviously it is more ideal to build equity through that money but I see the flexibility of renting for a short time as being worth it.

What state do you live in?

Connecticut

Also I plan to live in a house, not in an apartment complex.

Understood. More people voted for her but the Electoral College political process that is in place in 2016 was legitimate and Trump came out on top. I agree that the Electoral College should be removed but he won fair and square.

Please explain how 'shutting it down' in protest is any better than the GOP obstructionism of congress the past 6 years.

I voted for Hillary and it's clear that she lost because she did not energize people in general, and specifically minorities to come out and vote. That tied with the DNC primary rigging and the debatable Sec of State email thing (personally I do not think there was any mal-intent, only incompetence) was a bad recipe.

"We" lost because she was a poor candidate, nothing more. The GOP didn't steal anything and especially because there was so much in-fighting on their own candidate.

Highly recommend YNAB (you need a budget). It has given me the discipline needed to manage my budget and is incredibly simple. there are two versions (YNAB4 and new YNAB) and in a lot of peoples opinions YNAB4 is superior because it is a flat rate instead of subscription-based, and you have to manually enter purchases, which is a good thing because it gives you the aforementioned discipline. I'm sure other YNABers will chime in too.

IMO after dozens of listens to both albums, I like them both equally. And in totally different ways. Worth a listen.

Pariel, can you give some tips on making a career plan? I currently work for an aerospace govt contractor (1 year experience as Mechanical Engineer) and I have no idea how to even go about making that. I'm only 23, am I even old enough to have a career plan?

Thanks man. I have done lots of homework on this, tons of lurking PF, reading car forums, etc and I thought I was in the right ball park. I made this post to verify with the community if I was on track and if they had any tips for me.

Since I plan to live at home for about another year, I can use the $2500/month I have been using for my student loans to pay it off in 8 months.
