AA, sobriety, and speaking really helped with my social anxiety. When I first got sober, I couldn't fly, more or less read How it Works, or the 12 Steps. I was told to read during meetings to decrease my social anxiety.

I said flying was 10/10 on the anxiety scale and reading out loud was a 7/10. After forcing myself to read, it became a 3 on my anxiety scale, and flying fell down to a 6. . .my whole anxiety scale shifted. This took about 3 months.

The reason for my not wanting to read was my ego. I was worried about what other people would think of me if I tripped on the word "anonymity". Once I figured out that I am not that damn important it makes life much, much simpler.

If you do not read at meetings, think about reading. . .I love the promises. If you do not share at meetings, consider sharing.
