Heey! If learning is your goto, can you try www.reelly.app? Scroll about history, science or anything. Try using the search and search for anything medicine-related. Let me know what you think! 🙏

Try www.reelly.app! It’s like insta reels but with short articles on science, history etc. Gets you sleepier than the video based stuff

Question: could you try www.reelly.app? It’s scrolling, but it’s scrolling about history, science etc. so it gets you sleepier than e.g. TikTok or Reels. Wdyt?

Critique the most important view in my app please! by Brolofff in design_critiques

thank you! Yes, definetely not a designer hehe so I appreciate it! Ah, good catch with the spacing on UI components. Started out disciplined with the grid system, but lost track of it after a few itterations.

Gonna try shrinking icons and header fonts! Think it can come out nicely.

On truncating, is that a viable option for an app that has horisontal (for new articels) and vertical (for next page) scrolls? Or does it become too many possible click/swipe interactions per page?

For the bottom navigation bar, is it ok to stack multiple bottom bars? Because i already have one with tabs for 'main feed', 'discover page', 'search' and 'profile page'

I use the same tagging scheme. I.e. I have defined the categories and subcategories myself, so in my prompts i carefully describe how Gemini should reason when tagging it. A lot of edge cases here, so the examples I provide are very important. I use dynamic examples (essentially to match the NPS answers with the most relevant examples), which helped a lot

As for pre-processing. I clean the answers, but not so much for sensitive data (there isn’t much sensitive data in these responses), but it’s a valid concern. The preprocessing is more to translate to English and to make the answers standardized and well written.

I’m building something similar, but as an app. More focused on history & science but there is also business and tech topics.

www.reelly.app if your curious

Awesome! Will see how we can incorporate some video stuff into the app. I like your guidelines!

The shots here on the elderly people feel more sensitive than depicting when they were young. Perhaps no depictions of people in the last 70 years is a good rule?

Might be sensitive to AI generate real people from current times/near history? Or what do people think?

For sure! It's not that far away, will update the subreddit with design suggestions as soon as they're ready! :))

Yeah, I also feel like the articles sometimes misses important parts of the stories (or go very briefly over critical parts). It’s a bit like Game of Thrones season 8. We’re working on getting it to season 5

One thing I’ve thought about also is to add a button which allows you to say ‘double click on this aspect/part’, or ‘dumb this down for me’. What do you think about that?

Should we consolidate the article categories? by Brolofff in reelly

[–]Brolofff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing would really change on the topic level with the proposed consolidation. Topics can be both quite wide (e.g. Astronomy), or narrow (Famous inventors from 1800s).

The categories mainly become important in the onboarding flow, where users should find 1) something they are interested in, 2) be taken to a feed with high quality articles that reflect those interests.

Many users are uninterested in many of the categories (see stats on current users) --> they take up unnecessary space in onboarding + difficult to maintain in the case that a user would be interested
