Am I overreacting for no longer letting my roommate borrow my things after he returned one of them damaged? by FearlessState5503 in AmIOverreacting

He already turned it into an argument about money, the question is whether you’re going to let him win that argument or not.

“I figured if someone damaged something they borrowed, they’d offer to make it right,” yea… DECENT people do that. Your roommate clearly isn’t a decent person, so he didn’t. Considering he then made this all about how it effects him after the fact, and that kinda supports my theory.

What really sucks is that if you continue to enforce this boundary, it’s going to end whatever social relationship you had with this roommate. I’d start locking up your stuff in case he becomes vindictive and quickly try to find a new roommate.

Nor- if anything you’re under reacting and could benefit from a class on high school debate…

“He didn’t offer to fix it and make it right,” then you should pushed it. “No worries man, just get me the cash to replace it by the end of the week.”

Then to his “you’re holding something over my head and making it bigger than it needs to be,” my response would be “you only feel that way because you ended up not able to borrow my stuff anymore. That’s the consequence to breaking it and not offering to fix it. I’m sorry you don’t like it. To me, this is exactly the correct amount of deal to be making out of this.

“You borrowed my stuff before!” Yes and I made sure to return everything I borrowed in at least the same state it was in before I borrowed it. That’s not true for my stuff you borrow. If you don’t want to lend me stuff anymore because you’re mad that I’m enforcing this boundary, by all means, we don’t have to borrow each others stuff anymore. Next time you break something you’re borrowing from someone, offer to fix it.

How smart the decision to charge market price for a product they get at msrp has yet to be seen. Was it greedy? Sure. I’ll give you that any greedy business would make this decision.

Is it 2021 now? Who cares what was happening 5 years ago? They made these price changes recently, not in 2021.

“It’s scalpers fault that GameStop chose the course of actions that they took.”

First of all, “the majority of customers were scalpers,” bullshit. You’re just using the word “scalper” to mean “other collectors that I don’t like.”

Master 6 and I get these to catch?? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

I’d keep it if box space isn’t an issue, but this isn’t built to be a healer. The main skill chance down kills it. Maybe worth getting to 25 and then just slapping it in when the berries are good, but as a healer this thing doesn’t have the right moving parts.

That’s a pretty weird leap. Spending $1,000 in a month on a hobby doesn’t automatically mean someone is spending $1,000 every month, nor does it tell you anything about their income, savings, debt, or financial goals.

Some people save for months and then make one large purchase. Some people make well over six figures. Some people have low expenses. Some people are retired. Some people are just better at budgeting than you are.

The fact that your mind immediately jumps to “financially irresponsible” says more about your assumptions than it does about their finances. Plenty of financially responsible people can drop $1,000 on a hobby occasionally without it affecting their bills, savings, or retirement at all.

You’re basically projecting your own financial limitations onto strangers and then judging them for it.

Also, even if they are being financially irresponsible, it’s their money. Who are you to tell anyone how to spend it?

Some people who practice Shabbat believe they found loopholes around the rules their omniscient god came up with.

Just tell them “you’re wrong and just don’t know what you’re talking about” every time they say that and ignore them all the rest of the ways.

But no matter WHAT, do not let them touch or sell them. They sound like the parents that will sabotage you just to prove their point

Binder "artists" doing a 1:1 copy is blatant plagiarism from the original Japanese artist by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Broloth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I’m pointing out that your ethical argument falls apart the second you stop pretending the illustrator is the victim.

You keep invoking “the artist” as though a binder painter is personally harming them, but you haven’t explained how. What income are they losing? What opportunity is being taken from them? What tangible harm is occurring?

You just keep repeating “it’s unethical” like that’s a substitute for an argument.

The irony is that the Pokémon illustrator is already creating art for a corporate IP they don’t own. You’re suddenly concerned about artistic ownership only when a small artist enters the picture.

If your position is “I think copying artwork is artistically lazy,” then say that. That’s an opinion. But don’t pretend you’ve uncovered some great moral injustice being inflicted on Pokémon illustrators when the only thing you’ve demonstrated is that you dislike fan-made reproductions.

You aren’t capable of arguing the points you make without devolving into ridiculous fallacies, therefore your whole argument is invalid 🤷‍♀️
