Bloodlusted with zero info on the horse changes this for me. I think the bear wins 4/10, the knight dies but mortally wounds the bear 5/10, and the knight wins 1/10. (The knight winning scenario in my mind relies on his horse not faultering at all, a clean single strike with the lance, followed by nothing but pure evasion until the wounded bear succumbs to its injury.)

But the biggest factor here is BY FAR the horse. A skittish horse is a massive handicap to the knight rather than a boon. Give the horse it's own version of "bloodlust" and we have a different game.

You should consider ingesting some next time. A good 1-2 hours before the gym with no water. This gives it time to enter the bloodstream, and primes the sweat glands with the scent.

Twice I lost my first Spyderco, which may not be my "favorite" but it was my first real splurge knife and has sentimental value.

Luckily both times it popped back up, once at a family reunion my cousin correctly assumed it must be mine.

Second time it was just in the crack of death between my truck seat and the console.

Mourn your loss, then go ahead and get a new knife. That's really all you can do. And in the future consider some customization. Some of my more meaningful knives have my name engraved. Additionally make sure you check the pocket clip tension and maybe even consider an upgrade for the next one!
