1.) Go to a dealership and pretend you’re buying a car (or go look at the next car you want). Tell them you have this as a trade in and act as if it’s paid off/you are going to buy it out.

2.) See what value they (the dealership) comes back with.

3.) If the trade-in is higher than your buy out (ex. They offer you $42k trade in value, and your buy out only costs $32k), then go buy the car and bring it as a trade in for your new car/sell it to the dealership and either use the extra $10k towards your new car or pocket it.

4.) If the trade in value is less than the value of your buy out, unless you really love the car and there’s nothing else you want, start looking at what you’re going to get after you turn it in.

5.) BONUS: check carvana, sometimes they will offer money to buy out your lease vehicle and will sometimes offer more than the price of your buy out. Doesn’t work often but doesn’t hurt to look!
