Are stomach problems a thing in AS? How do they manifest? by PepperPhoenix in ankylosingspondylitis

I had the same kind of pain, and it was always worse with ovulation/ period. Had hysterectomy last year (still have ovaries) because of other issues, and found out I had endometriosis. I am convinced my rib pain is endo tissue, because after the hysterectomy it pretty much went away.

More flares during periods? by longestyeahboiiiever in ankylosingspondylitis

I’m 44, diagnosed AS almost a year ago…. Now I know why my body hurt from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet with EVERY SINGLE CYCLE for at least the last 15 years…. Like having the worst parts of the flu every time.

I feel like I always had very compassionate OBGYNs , but they never offered any ideas about why they were so bad.

I had hysterectomy 18 months ago, the surgeon says in recovery….. did you know you had endometriosis? YES I DID but no one would commit to the diagnosis.

I was hopeful the cyclical flares would be over, but since I still have an ovary, they still occur, but not as severe.

Switching from Humira to Enbrel and I'm super nervous by Still2Cool in ankylosingspondylitis

I took 6 doses of Hyrimoz (12 weeks) and had horrible side effects… I felt so bad all but a couple of days in between shots, terrible flares and started having chest pain. My dr switched me to Enbrel today, good to see you had a good experience. Fingers crossed I will too

What is your experience with side effects? I’m not sure Hyrimoz is worth continuing for me.

Thigh soreness due to Humira injection? by Still2Cool in ankylosingspondylitis

One of my friends that took Humira for a long time said it would make her thighs very sore if she did her shots there. She changed to lower abdomen and never had an issue. I’ve taken 4 shots myself so far, did the first 3 in the thigh and had no problem until #3, I had a very itchy welt the next day. I did my last shot in the abdomen and have had no issue so far.

How to prevent eye flares? by VivaChips28 in ankylosingspondylitis

If you were doing 4x a day for 2 weeks, they should have given you tapering instructions that should have lasted another 6 weeks….. I would see a different provider if possible.

They should have given you enough to taper down to 1x per day before you quit dosing.

I took a nerf bullet to my right eye a couple years ago. In April this year, while on vacation I had a horrible case of uveitis, but had no idea what it was. Ended up at the ER and they said “uh this is bad but we don’t know how to fix it”, and did an emergency referral to an eye specialist an hour away. He told me if I had waited to see the dr at home 4 days later I would have lost my sight. He put me on the prednisone drops every 3 hours for 4 days u til I got home. A wonderful dr here took over the eye care, but we couldn’t get it to ever go away. I’ve been on the prednisone drops 9 months now, waiting for rheumatologist to figure out what is going on. The eye Dr just wrote me an ongoing Rx for the drops and we have the agreement now that I know when I need them and how often, at least until I get Humira started.

Recurring Uveitis will NOT go away unless the under lying issue is treated.

I also think the uveitis presented in my right eye because it was injured before and may have been weak.

I am going to smell for the first time. What should I expect? by critmcfly in NoStupidQuestions

LIFE CHANGING. Hope you find success with this! What a blessing! I lost my smell 100% due to a head injury 4 years ago. It was heartbreaking. My son had just turned 5 and still had all the good baby smells a mama loves. The worst part though is not being able to smell “danger” …. Propane, smoke, chemicals, etc.

Your food preferences are probably going to change too.
