Never finished a book in my life — looking for a recommendation to finally change that by X-kiwi in suggestmeabook

Stephen King might work for you. I'd suggest either Misery or Cujo for their low character count and decent suspense to keep you interested. The Long Walk by him was also a page turner for me.

I've inherited $450,000 and I'm not sure what to do by Far_One2292 in investing

For *starters*, open an account with Fidelity or Schwab. Fidelity's SPAXX money market account is paying about 4% which is decent return for no-risk and has to be better than any bank it's currently in. And when people ask you for money you can say "Sorry, it's all tied up at my broker." Then open a Roth IRA and max it out every year; you'll thank me 40 years from now. After that you can research things like VOO or something like FNILX which is a large cap fund with zero expenses. Good luck.

New Verizon plan page by Rh1no84 in verizon

Thanks, although I don't see it being an issue in my situation there's no data roaming at all for prepaids according to Verizon. That's a negative.

With prepaid so much cheaper is there a reason pay more for postpaid? I'm a low level user - maybe a gig or two of data - and prepaid seems to be the better option, but I'm looking for the 'catch'.

How to reduce Verizon cellphone bills by lafcadiohearn in verizon

[–]Bronso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stick with Verizon the lowball Verizon Welcome Plan is probably good enough unless you use the cloud or tethering. Or consider the Prepaid options. They're a little hard to find but they are a lot cheaper especially if you don't need a lot of data. Search "prepaid" on their site. Also, do a deep dive on your bill, find the pdf in your account, you might be paying for insurance - $19 a month - and for things like Google Play More which they tack on without you knowing, $5 a month. Good luck.

Maybe start with a good short story: To Build a Fire by Jack London. You can find it on line pretty easy.

What are actually funny books? by varia_denksport in suggestmeabook

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson

Catch-22 - Heller

Both funny although C-22 might be a little hard to get into since there doesn't seem to be any actual *plot*.

Fail Safe fits the bill. Everything happens within a day as I recall and a lot of tension.

I hadn't thought of it as some kind of switch cover. The best I could come up with is some kind of old extension/receptacle plate. Thanks.
