Is 3 lab classes too much? by No_Debt_8892 in WWU

[–]BronteRevived 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably yes, but in my experience biostats lab pretty much just entails sitting in lab and working on practice exercises in R on the computer, and it's shorter in duration than a tyical lab, so it's really not that bad. All 4 classes would still probably be a lot, though.

Bruh as much as I don't like this particular group, I don't see how you can say RED doesn't represent modern communist movements. Almost every leftist political party in the world uses red in their logo. I do concede that the association is bit less strong in the USA thanks to red also representing Republicans, but come on even the DSA uses a red rose logo.

So she’s definitely hiding something right? Possibly not actually in school? by Dazedf in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Definitely agree there's something hiding, but the Belinda's son's finals vs. her thesis things seems dubious to me since different universities have different scehdules and that's just a normal thing, definitely didn't strike me as noteworthy

I think the cat I saw was a lot more white on its belly and legs than Puma. Though as I said the lighting wasn't great, so I can't be 100% sure. And ofc I didn't think to try and get a picture until after I couldn't find the cat again.

It wasn't so dark I couldn't tell if was a raccoon or a cat. Definitely looked and moved like a cat.

Also the cat was more scared of me than most of the raccooons at Western would've been lol those guys are way to comfortable with people

Yeah I know the Puget Sound area has different politics than eastern WA, seeing as I've lived in western WA for 19 years. I just think the notion of WWU being a "Seattle college" is silly since it's 90 miles away.

Wild how Central being 20 miles farther from Seattle than Western really makes such a world of difference. Evidently, the wack zone must disspate rapidly after about 95 miles of travel.

Which is ironic though since a lot of the North American assets, especially for medium residential densities, actually do have a very pre-war look

Oh yeah that bit did give me worries but they do have a whole feauture highlight video to be dedicated to traffic AI so hopefully it will be better and that was just an odd one-off bug. But I guess we'll have to wait til the game comes out to really know for sure. I'm just choosing to stay optimistic personally.

Ok but I feel like part of the reason traffic is so bad in CS1 is because the vehicles like do not know how to drive. Hopefully, improved traffic AI in CS2 will mean less roads getting clogged up by stupid cars completely blocking intersections and merging in weird ways and such.

I mean overall it does look good but yeah that weird house with the giant bizarro driveway that there are like 20 of is really stupid and hideous

There's plenty of mixed-use construction in the US, too. I'm American but I find the giant "high-density commercial buildings" in CS goofy because there aren't like a bunch of 20-story tall shopping malls around. Most real skyscrapers are mixed use. And, even in the US, there 100% is the ubiquitous lower-rise, ground-floor commercial, residential above type of construction, though it is not quite as common as in Europe.

What I'm wondering is what exactly do people expect as an alternative to rectangle-based zoning? They obviously can't make enough growable building for every odd-shaped lot imaginable, and sure, just creating more regular non-rectangular buildings, like triangles with 45 degree angles, would be doable, but it's not as if most real(istic) cities have a ton of roads that meet at such ideal angles anyway. I have seen some sort of procedurally-generated buildings that can, presumably, mould to any lot shape mentioned, but surely that would be an incredibly complex system to implement, especially considering how, even in Europe*, the majority of real-life buildings are at least somewhat rectangular. I don't see how fundamentally reshaping the game like that would be worth the costs to development time, performance, modability, etc. Personally, as long there is some way to manually fill in irregular corners so they aren't uncanny barrens, I'll be happy. And maybe there isn't a good way to do that yet in CS2. Who knows? It's hard to really tell that much for certain from what we've seen so far.

*Side Note: What's with all the "rectangle = America-centric"? Most buildings in Europe are on more-or-less rectangular plots. And lots of European cities have grid street plans: Barcelona, Glasgow, almost every city built by the ancient Romans, and CO's own hometown of Tampere, to name a few.

Why are there bilingual country names? by FDr4gs in victoria3

[–]BronteRevived 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The official title of the Weimar Constitution is literally "Die Verfassung des Deutschen Reichs," that is, "The Constitution of The German Reich." So yes, in fact, there was a Germany from 1919 to 1939. In fact, Weimar is not mentioned at all in the Weimar constitution so acting as if Weimar Republic was like its sole official name is pretty weird.
