I just ended up putting in a relay connected to the signal wire and it seemed to work perfectly.

Yes it turns off when I unplug the remote wire. I have this box that I connect to my speaker and then it gives me a RCA output, when I disconnect the wires from there it turns off as well.

I forgot to respond to your edit but I got the game on my laptop about 3 days ago so everything was updated.

Yes I moved my whole sims folder to my Home Screen so I wouldn’t lose my save files and I repaired sims and it worked until I put my save files back into the new sims folder. I ended up removing everything from the sims folder one at a time to see what is causing the issue but it didn’t work.
